I just reinstalled this on Steam, but I've probably racked up around 1k hours in the game via the WarThunder launcher.

I do highly recommend this game if you enjoy tanks, planes, helicopters, or ship simulator games (although I gotta be honest, ships get the least attention out of the 3). If one of those things apply to you, but you hate grindy games or games that are slow but have some 'pay to progress faster' mechanics, I'd recommend that you avoid this game.

WarThunder's grind system can be really intense, and it can take up to a year (or even longer) to fully unlock all of the vehicles in one country's tech tree (i.e. to get all of the ground vehicles for US, or all of the planes for Germany, etc.). You can speed up the grind process by buying premium vehicles that will increase the amount of currency and research points you earn with that vehicle, or you can buy days of premium account which will give you a massive boost to research and currency gains, but both of these options cost IRL money (with some exceptions). The only way to get premium vehicles or premium account time without spending money is by participating in in-game events or by unlocking them via the Battle Pass (you can get 1 premium vehicle per free battle pass, or 3 premium vehicles + some premium time per paid battle pass).

This game can make you lose your sanity sometimes, since you can occasionally die to enemies that aren't rendered on your screen due to a rather strange anti-cheat program, or you can just get extremely frustrated by how long it's taking to grind your way up to the vehicles you really want to play. My biggest tip for this is to play the game to have fun, while having progress as your secondary objective. Find and play vehicles that you enjoy, and you'll reach your goal eventually. If you play with the sole goal of progression, you end up thinking of the game like it's a chore and then you just end up not enjoying yourself.

Overall, this game is pretty fun. It's got some occasional infuriating parts, like when you shoot a Tiger's weak spot but since he turned 0.1 degrees when you shot it ended up bouncing and he kills you a second later, but ultimately the fun times and the good matches out-weigh the bad. If you end up getting frustrated because your deaths are outweighing your kills, search up some videos on how to improve your gameplay and your positioning. You can also choose to search up how to play specific vehicle types (light tanks, heavy tanks, medium tanks, SPG/Tank Destroyers, etc.) in order to learn their playstyles. Another great way to have fun is to do goofy things like bring a 1.3 BR Biplane to an 8.0 tank match and watch as helicopters panic when you swoop down on them, or like bringing a derpy little WW2 tank to a 10.0 tank battle and slap an Abrams across the face with your High Explosive shell of doom.

Overall review: 7.5/10. It has some problems, some unbalanced vehicles, but overall it's a solid game imo.
