Good game to unwind with or play with loved ones. Helps me forget how ♥♥♥♥ the world is :)

For the first 80 hours of Starfield, I had a good time. I ran through the campaign, I made my ships and I talked and interacted with the world and the people within it. Then after about 100 hours, I felt a little burnt out and wanted to play a different game, so I went and got Cyberpunk. I then played through that game and when I was finally finished with it, I came back. For the next 40 or so hours I played the game as I did before but something felt off.
All of the conversations I enjoyed before now felt shallow and uncanny, all of the spaces I once liked exploring felt empty and desolate, I noticed that for every loading screen I had in other games, I had 3 or 4 in this game. I suspected that I may have been burnt out still so I decided to just go play another game instead. I then played through Baldur's Gate 3 and then when I tried to come back, I finally realised my issue.

Compared to true RPG's, and even some of Bethesda's own prior releases, Starfield is a game that is just okay.

Before I played Baldur's Gate 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, I had never played a true RPG. I had played Bethesda titles like Skyrim and Fallout 4, but in comparison to games like CP2077 and BG3, Skyrim and FO4 feel extremely shallow and incomplete. This, I believe, is the root of the issue I am beginning to have with Bethesda games: They are good, but they aren't great.
I know I am not breaking any new ground with this opinion, it is absolutely everywhere online after all, but that just goes to prove that Bethesda's outdated half-assed game design just isn't good enough to compete in the modern market. This year Bethesda have objectively been absolutely blown out of the water by other studios who actually put proper effort and polish onto their finished product and I sincerely hope that it will give them the kick up the ass they need to actually start competing. The BGS model is outdated and tired, and the fact that their main line releases only come out once every couple of years with near constant work being done on them makes that fact absolutely inexcusable. Now that Starfield is out of the way, as much as it pains me to say it, I think BGS should dust off their planned DLC's and post launch content for this game then cut their losses and divert all attention to ES6. After all, now that Baldur's Gate has set a standard (and especially considering ES6 is one of the most hyped games of the past decade), if they half-ass their next release as well, I don't see myself sticking around to see how they mutilate the next Fallout game as well.

In conclusion, I have tried and tried, again and again to come back to this game but I just can't. It is not up to standard and I honestly don't think it is worth the space in my SSD anymore.
BGS, Todd, anyone if you are reading this and have authority, please don't just sweep dissenting voices away. We want to enjoy your work, we want to love your games, we want to stick with you, but we can only support you as long as you don't shaft us for our loyalty. And to be completely honest, this game is a spit in the eye.
