I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're refering to as GregTech, is in fact, IC2/GregTech, or as I've recently taken to calling it, IC2 plus GregTech. GregTech is not an Minecraft modification unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning IC2 system made useful by the IC2 corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full mod as defined by LexManos. Many computer users run a modified version of the IC2 system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of IC2 which is widely used today is often called GregTech, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the IC2 system, developed by the IC2 Project. There really is a GregTech, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use.

GregTech is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. GregTech is normally used in combination with the IC2 operating system: the whole system is basically IC2 with GregTech added, or IC2/GregTech. All the so-called GregTech distributions are really distributions of IC2/GregTech!
