This. Is. Amazing.

Wow, i mean i knew what the aesthetic was like going into it, but playing it yourself, seeing how you transition beteween these signs and go from place to place, it just feels different. I love this whole presentation so much. But what would be a good presentation without the gameplay to back it up! And man, i know i've not played much of it so far - but the puzzles are immensely satisfying and the mechanics are really fresh. I've bought this game amongst many others during the Spring Sale and i've given quite a few back. This one though hooked me instantly. I love this and i already know i'm going to recommend it to friends. It just hits that exact spot of puzzles that are mind-boggling at first but then it all (quite literally, as you're connecting puzzle pieces basically) comes together in one satisfying functional collage that you figured out, step by step. Play it if you're after a satisfying puzzle game with a unique presentation and feel, it's wonderful!

First off - is there more games like this? Leave me a comment please because i did absolutely not expect to love this as much as i do.

So i was expecting this to be yet another boomer shooter, which i would have been fine with, most that are released nowadays are pretty good. But what i got is...i don't know, i haven't played anything like it before and all i know is that now i want more.

The game has a striking balance between survival, horror, looting and difficulty. The monsters hit hard and combat encounters are scary. But they're not spongy so it feels fair. They also always drop a little bit of loot which i'm a sucker for, because it really makes trying to get rid of enemies worth it.
The horror aspect mostly comes from its difficulty. Combat situations are tense, probably even more so because the Steam Deck's controls are making it slightly harder to play than it otherwise would be, but i find it to be perfect this way, haha. And i gotta say, i'm a scaredy-cat, but encounters that are tense due to the risk involved to them, man, i love that so so much and this game gets it right.

There are a couple points that i would criticize:
1. The sound ambience is wonderful - but footsteps sometimes sound like the enemy is right next to me even though they're a floor above me for example.
2. Which brings me to my next point: Should the detection meter really get activated that much, if the enemies can't actually see me and i'm below or above them? Like, there's floor between us, it should at least block some sound i'm making. I suppose this might be a little tricky to code in such a way that it works reliably but i wanted to mention it.
3. Quests so far have been fetch quests - Go there, kill enemies, get thing, get back to safe spot and give thing. A little variety wouldn't hurt - or even some concrete rewards for the quests other than just furthering the story (while not actually telling much content at all, at least so far).
4. The NPCs sometimes despawn. It can easily be fixed, but when i leave my Steam Deck off and forget to charge it, so that it closes the game, the NPC in my safe spot is gone. Resting in the safe zone fixed it.
5. Personally i would love more loot. There's just sooo many spaces where you're expecting stuff to be but there isn't. When i'm in that one saloon for example and there's a hotel room in it, why is the cupboard literally stacked with cutlery but non of it is lootable? Sure, you might end up screwing the progression pace you've created now, but it's like "oh a cave! Killed all the monsters annnnd....a well there's one small knife and a bandage". I honestly feel like maybe splitting gold nuggets up for example into halves that are worth half and that way having more stuff lying around would feel more rewarding. But maybe that's just me.
6. Connected to the previous point: It sometimes feels sort of unsatisfying that there is so many items that are purely decorative and you can't take them, >especially< since there's no difference between the lootable ones and the decorative ones around it sometimes. I can loot that plate because it's a silver plate, but not the fork and knife next to it, or hell, even the plate that is also very silver that is right next to it. It feels arbitrary and honestly breaks my immersion to an extent. Maybe splitting them by some sort of logic would make this less immersion-breaking. Decorative items stay put, but all loot is consumable items, food, bandages, potions, coins and valuable items for example. Stuff where you go "yeah that makes sense that you would take that with you, for survival or trading purposes".
7. Native controller support would be nice.

So, all of these points are rather important to me but i wanna make clear that i'm having immense amounts of fun with this game so far! I'm super happy that i accidentally bought a type of game that i didn't know i would like, instead of another boomer shooter (which i wouldn't mind, but hey, variety is fun!)

Please, if you know of any similar games, leave me a comment here :D. I would love to play more like this where the horror comes from tension, where you find loot to barely survive but still pack a punch when you decide to engage.

Loved it on Switch and always wanted to play it with my regular co-op/multiplayer buddy on PC, so i was stoked to see that we can now!

This game is not exactly hard or anything but if you're up for some wacky physics-fun, god is it hilarious. You take people's cars, park them and then give them back. The fun lies in the fact that nobody cares how you treat the cars at all. Just drive full speed up a ramp to throw a car onto the parking lot while jumping out midair so you can get back down more quickly to get the next car. People want their car back? Drive full speed into the car return zone and let it smash through anything that doesn't move out of the way quick enough. It's so so so fun, seriously.

One of the prettiest, most charming games ever made. It is puzzle-platformer perfection and moves at a rather quick pace. You will have to stop and think every now and then, but it's very doable. And even if you have to stop, all the better! You get to enjoy all these lovingly crafted backdrops each of which looks exactly what you'd imagine a fairytale to look like.

OH AND - The Multiplayer. Oh my god. I was already in love with this game but then i played through it again with a friend. The puzzles are different in co-op mode too! Just slightly adjusted but they do require the people that play to work together, which is wonderful! But the best thing is...it. is. hilarious. Oh my god, we've recorded so many clips of this game from whenever the (very well done and mostly bug-free!) physics engine breaks. It is incredibly fun. Oh or when you delete a summoned platform that your friend was just gonna jump on, making them fall to their death? It's gold, it's freaking gold.

Play this game! It is amongst my top feel-good games!

Ignore my playtime, i finished the game on my Nintendo Switch.

This game deserves so much more recognition tbh. It's wonderful and more people should find out about it. I'm saying it like that because, come on, it's 1,50€ when it's on sale, so the real issue is really just that people don't know about it. I'm sure they'd try it otherwise.

Before Void Bastards, i didn't know i needed a shooter like this. I mean, calling it a shooter is selling it short, that's only like one aspect amongst many equally important parts that make up the fun of this game. Stealth for example is a big ingredient. And i hate stealth - but not here. There's shooting, stealth, looting, tactics, crafting and it's all presented in a wholly unique way, with a beautiful comic book aesthetic, great british one-liners, wonderful sound design and unique musical cues. This game SCREAMS "Presentation" probably more than any other i've played. It's a one of a kind experience!
