It's been kneecapped since NGS released, but trust me, it's worth it.

The games premise is that you play as a freaky amalgamation of whatever mods you have installed and wander the remains of Australia after the bombshell news report that confirmed the death of Steve Irwin and propelled the island into nuclear war against the Stingrays, and teaming up with some weirdos from the 18somethings to built houses, outposts, settlements and maybe even the occasional city or two.
Along the way, the American Tourists will occasionally raid your houses and attempt to manifest their destinies all over your house, so you need to be sure to build plenty of defences while also making sure the water is free of the Stingraids. Seriously, the stingraids lower your maximum health, don't touch the water unless you know its safe.

The places where you can build your structures are designated by a red workbench that somehow gives you the magical powers of creating large panels and objects out of nowhere, and while they're placed fairly generously, there aren't exactly many ways to create a structure on the level of the premade things that are generated as part of the world. Aside from that, there's plenty of chances to build something nice in some way or another.
The main downside to the game is how electricity is managed. The wires provided all have something of an awkward drooping to them that really isn't prevalent in real life unless you just don't know what you're doing with your electricity. Aside from that another knock on the game is the lack of any non-apocalyptic building parts without using mods to fill the gap. I'd prefer if my wooden walls don't have holes in them or aren't rotting like crazy.

Aside from all that, this game is great, I'd give it a rating, but the sting rays stole my counting thingy.

You ever wanted to telekinetically lift someone in the air, throw a lightsaber into his gut, then electrocute him so hard that when you send him flying into a horde of other enemies he explodes and kills all of them, only to also ignite a nearby explosive barrel that causes a chain reaction which results in the entire room being covered in explosions that somehow kill people in the nearby rooms, shattering glass that opens a vacuum into the infinite void of space to get rid of everything the explosion didn't destroy, all while the only thing that even remotely concerns you is "when does my lightsaber come back?"
Well, you can do that.

This game is the greatest human meat-blender simulation ever convinced by a human mind.

This game has 2 faces. On one hand, completing the game story shows its "EVERYTHING DIES WITH REGRET!" and the unusually non-gory brutality (it shows blood, and the snapping sound that still causes a spine shiver every time theres a perfect counter, but it is never explicitly violent.), the decent to greatly written Characters, and the convoys that make me want to tear my teeth out and replace them with plastic ones so i can grind away at them easier. Plus, Stealing a car that plays Overture to William tell, an underground airport inhabited by feral wackjobs that want your blood, and prying the V8 from the cold offline servos of the Big Chief. Its all just thematic fun.

When the game is acutally finished, its worth coming back to. usually just driving around the wastland, sometimes even doing physics breaking stunt-glitches that should never be fixed (because its so hillariously out of Max's character to do these car stunts), but its mostly just quiet.

Its like saying: "Hi Max! Nice job percevering through the your madness. Heres the solace you been chasing for so long."

He earned it.

Ok. 99% of my playtime is actually on the switch, but im still talking here. This game is just creative.
Its old, Its new, Its stylish, Its Retro, Its unique, Its copied from everyware*, It sounds great, and it Plays great.

It has the simple hero saves the princess stuff of Mario, it has Ducktales gameplay with a shovel, Legend of Zelda's thematic setting, megaman style weapons and boss weaknesses (not really damage wise, but more efficiancy wise ... Exept for tinker knight. Hes alergic to his own gearbox. VERY ALLERGIC, more Zelda in upgradable weapons and armour LITEARLLY BATTLETOADS

Its the 8-bit Chimera of gaming.

Also its really good... Im just saying. Its good.
