I have not experienced anything like this game before in my life. It had the perfect flow of gameplay, writing, and music. It felt totally complete day one, a truly unique project from passionate people. There was rarely a dull moment, as I was either super engaged with the unique rhythm-action, laughing at the great humor (which completely struck the right chord with me (pun intended)), or having a great time listening to the original score and the perfect licensed music choice.

I've never felt so in-the-zone playing a game until now, like I usually am pretty locked in when playing rhythm games, but this was special. Once that music kicks in and you start fighting to the beat, it really feels like you're on stage, and nothing can stop you. There's one stage in this game that plays a licensed song that fit SO well and I was bopping my head and everything, it made me feel so powerful, like I could take on the world right there. The game's story was SUPER corny, but I loved it anyway as it fit with the whole style.

The animation was INSANE, both 2D and 3D, I've never seen 3D animation like this be so expressive. The character animations made the jokes land so much harder, and in tandem with the great VA work, really sold how much fun everyone had making this game. The Cel-shading really gave everything that PS2-type pop that it needed, and the just as well animated 2D sections were seamlessly transitioned in and out of. It's been said a lot about the game already, but it really does feel like a playable Cartoon Network show.

Overall I'd give the game a 10/10, please do check it out as it's at an illegal price. It really should be triple-A priced, it's unlike any other action (or rhythm) game I've ever played. From the funny writing, to the addictive gameplay, and the amazing art style, Hi-Fi Rush really is a game full of soul and should be experienced by anyone even slightly interested. A huge hats off to those at Tango Gameworks for making a great experience I'll never forget.
