Early Access Review
Tower Unite is an extremely fun casual experience that offers a huge variety of mini-games and customization. There has been much progress recently regarding new golf holes, new games, and events that keep things interesting. It is one of those games where hopping on always provides something different, especially when servers are filled. Want to watch YouTube videos with your buds in a virtual movie theater or with randos? You can do that. Want to survive the zombie apocalypse together in a top-down shooter? You can do that. There's tons of variety here, but there is a huge caveat to this I will mention later.

On one hand, playing solo can only get you so far. The game is built around a multiplayer experience after all. Servers can sometimes be empty, making some less popular games desolate and unplayable. If the game becomes more popular after a full release, the problem could be remedied. On the other hand, playing with friends and other players is good fun. Generally I never have any problems connecting to games or meeting friends in plazas.

While Tower Unite itself is filled with mini-games and hangout spots, the actual performance of such is abysmal. Without a heavy duty gaming setup, the game has major rubber banding issues in the plaza and in mini-games. I don't know if its the game engine or the general optimization of the game causing problems, but it takes away from the experience majorly. I should not be having trouble racing go-karts on medium settings with a 4070 Ti when I can run other racing games like Need For Speed Heat at a consistent 60fps on max settings. I hope that in the future the devs will be able to optimize the game properly.

From what I've seen, the devs are a loyal and hardworking team that respond to feedback often with the limited resources they have. As of now, the team should be focusing on heavy optimization fixes rather than new features. However, I can recommend this game still. It is enjoyable to bowl and play bingo with random peeps on occasion, and there's a LOT of potential here.

Whether I can recommend the game wholeheartedly after the recent price increase is hard to determine... They HAVE to make some drastic changes soon in order for the purchase to be 100% worth it.
