Activision, you can't just algorithmically force everybody to sweat their asses off for a 1.0 K/D and call it balancing. Oh, sorry, I forgot you're too busy making bundles for the store.

This game runs terribly. For the record, I have an above average pc that can run RDR2, RE4 Remake, and other demanding games on ultra with no problems. The second I booted this game up, I noticed that there is consistent stuttering and freezing that happens. I looked on some forums and subreddits to see if I was the only one, but no. Apparently this has been a known issue for a really long time, but the game has been abandoned by the devs. Of course it is. I really am not sure what I expected from a game published by EA. What a joke. I put a refund request in and I hope it goes through.

I won two games in a row and then didn't even get past level two on the next one. The highest highs and the lowest lows.

It's too bad. I was excited for this game for years before it came out, but its nowhere near worth the hype. This game is boring. I wish I could say something more about it but that's just all there is to say. The quests are all the same, your companions are bland and uninteresting, and the exploration is dismal. It's hard to believe that Bethesda made a game where I can't stand to explore. The selling point for most Bethesda games for me are those wandering moments when you come across something unexpected and it just takes all the focus away from what you were doing. There's nothing like that in this game. You can explore all you want, but there is nothing out there. It's boring.

It should be next to impossible to release a game that's 20 years old in this state; Yet here we are.

The game is... alright. The whole thing feels like it's on rails and in a big rush to get everything over with. It has very little of the exploration that made the remake of Resident Evil 2 feel so fun and rewarding. I've replayed that game 3 times over and am certain I never want to play this one again. There is very little replay value in it due to the fact that all the encounters with enemies/bosses are completely scripted so it doesn't leave room to try playing any differently.

That all being said, the boss fights and big setpieces the game has are SO FUN. It's unlike RE2 Remake in the way that they feel harrowing in that game; no, in every boss fight you feel like a complete badass blowing everything up. It would be more fun, however, if the game didn't TAKE THE CONTROLS AWAY FROM YOU FOR A CUTSCENE EVERY FIVE MINUTES. That might be my biggest complaint. Right when you are about to pull the trigger on the finishing blow during boss fights, the game rips the keyboard out from under your hands and shows you a cutscene of the exact thing YOU should be doing. But I digress.

I recommend this game ONLY to people with a predisposition to enjoying Resident Evil games. If the world of Resident Evil doesn't interest you and you don't care about the lore, don't even bother with this game. If you are, however, a Resident Evil fan, then this game has some very integral lore within it for the franchise. A lot of your questions from the previous two games are answered and you need to know this stuff going forward in the series.

All in all, this game is just alright. You can feel the Resident Evil bones underneath everything, but it's packaged in a bland and uninteresting wrapper. Anyways, that's my rant.
