There are a lot of aspects of this game I love, but because the game is so short and because perhaps the more prominent besides the main character is so bothersome, I do not feel I can check the button that says I recommend this game. But, if you like what I like about this game, and aren't so bothered by what I don't like (which I will detail), then I do recommend this game if you get it on sale (it is a tad expensive for what it is).

I will start with what I like about the game.

  • I absolutely adore the art and character designs. The characters are attractive and immediately iconic in terms of visual design and lore. I love learning about the different species they are. I think some of these species are Floraverse specific. These character designs are very inspiring and make me want to check out more of the Floraverse and design my own characters.
  • I love the representation of LGBT+ and polyamorous characters. I love that the differences between species and body types are addressed. It is a refreshingly diverse and sex positive game.
  • I like the different kinks that were explored. Even the ones I'm not particularly into were interesting to see unfold. The game would make me reconsider what I was into, at least in the moment.
  • I mostly like the personalities of the different characters. They are usually appealing and make me want to see more of them.
  • I like the aesthetic of the shop. I like the music. I like the different "voices" for the characters.
  • I like the a few of the characters are animal-plant hybrids. I like the references to using plants to craft potions. I like that the distinction between plant and animal flowers is addressed. For example, the potions that make partially-plant creatures smell more traditionally "floral" make non-plant animals smell more "musky". I imagine these potions would make plant creatures that use flies and beetles as pollinators smell more rotten. I also like that the analogy between plant pollen and animal sperm is addressed. Overall, any world-building in relation to plants is appreciated as I am a plant nerd.
  • I would have liked the meta puzzle of trying to figure out the optimal way to play if there wasn't one very bothersome plotline that the player is forced to engage with every time they replay.

Now, I will address aspects of the game I feel neutral or mixed about.

  • Yeah I like the music but it's pretty much just one song for the whole game and you can't turn it town in game which is mildly annoying.
  • One character seems like an abuser but the game doesn't address her behavior seriously, which is jarring because the game tends to promote communication, consent, and boundaries (all good things!). It's hard to tell how much of Alice's behavior falls into "play" the other characters have proactively accepted and how much of her behavior is pushiness, violence, and enslavement(???) being enabled by the other characters. This is a neutral bullet point because I don't mind games having characters who do wrong, but, it was weird how the other characters reacted, especially in this game. Another reason this is neutral is because perhaps I'm not picking up that this is all part of play that has been consented to before hand.
  • I wish you could get full hearts with Charthur by being forthright about boundaries. In a game where you play a sex positive character who cares about communication, consent, and boundaries it feels weird that in your first interaction of the game you have to find a loophole around communicating boundaries to get the highest score. But, whatever. I still liked Charthur and her scene.
  • I think it would have been cool is Quill was asexual sex averse. Based on his demeanor, description, late appearance, and color scheme I thought that was going to be the case. Having a character in a porn game who doesn't want to have sex and then doesn't is interesting. It would have been cool for demonstrating boundaries (better than the bothersome plotline that I will get to later). But I still liked him even after he was revealed to not actually be sex averse.

Now I will get to the parts of the game that worsen the experience.

  • It's just basically just Krypto (she/they).
  • And anything relating to her.
  • Krypto is a character who continues to sneak into the shop of the main character, Cerise, despite her continuous protests. After Cerise keeps telling Krypto to go away, Krypto makes a robot and sends it into the shop to spy on people. When confronted, Krypto will play the victim, act arrogant, be hypocritical, use the term "white knight", etc. Depending on the run, Cerise might say that she cried when she got home from work due to the stress of dealing with Krypto. The player is forced to deal with Krypto. If the player tries to ignore her, the other characters will stop in the middle of flirting with you to complain about Krypto and then they will leave. So if you want to have sexy times with the other characters, you have to be on Krypto's ass telling them to leave, which is just not fun! This plotline takes me out of the game and is the only reason I'm not 100%ing it. 8 of the 15 non-automatic achievements are related to Krypto.
  • Despite finding Krypto annoying I take no pleasure in the other characters condescending to, yelling at, and rules-lawyering her. Like, just sell them the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ vibrator. All she wants is a vibrator and the game establishes it doesn't make sense that it's illegal for her to buy one so just sell her one! Cenrise will recommend Alice's black market sex shop to patrons, at which according to Cenrise, Alice hurts people and permanently changes their bodies, both without consent, but she won't sell a kid a vibrator? Oh yeah Krypto is a child in a game that doesn't want to have children in it, so why is she here? Papaya is so mean to her in a way that feels way too personal, like the game devs had to deal with something similar so they wrote this plotline into the game as a vent without realizing how uncomfortable it is for those unfamiliar with whatever this is about.
