The moment you enter the world of Alan Wake, it pulls it with amazing music, creepy atmosphere and absolutely flawless pacing. The game-play is rather simple and the story while better than Silent Hill, is really not the biggest draw. The game pays homage to several classic horror films in very subtle ways, but most notably it is a homage to the television program Twin Peaks. Instead of the log lady, there is a lamp lady, the town is Bright Falls Washington which is eerily similar to the town in Twin Peaks and the Cauldron Lake Lodge is similar to the Great Northern Hotel. I won't give many more spoilers, but this game is an intense, psychological thriller, with excellent pacing, very good music, and the perfect setting for the quirky, but dark atmosphere of a Twin Peaks/Horror. I once played this on xbox360, and have to admit, i was literally thrilled years later to find this on Steam. This is a game that sets a mood with its mystery and intrigue and once you get caught in it's ambiance, you will play till the end. Highly recommended.
