EAC (Easy Anti-Cheat) ruined this game, blacklisting the ability to use mods in public servers.
The fact that they got rid of mod authentication, which was arguably what was keeping this game alive, was such a shot in the foot for the Devs.
Good luck in the future, this games gonna need it.

Nostalgia trip with better/re-worked animations.
Multiplayer is dead tho, original still has a high player count.

I've yet to play Battlefield 2042 yet, but after seeing gameplay of the beta and the current version out today, it made me re-download 4 out of nostalgia. Despite what my current play time is on PC i have over 1,000 hours on Xbox and I don't regret it. multiplayer can be chaotic but that's where its perfection is, I have so many memories of running shotgun on Operation Locker and having stalemates between each side in the middle of the map. The only gripe I have is a lot of the servers are full of the typical "buy the VIP at *insert website* or get kicked." but other then that the servers are still full of people.

It beats 2042 and its modern, what more do you need.

Great game, mediocre story but the grind for certain types of Monster Parts is what keeps you going.
If your ever bored and need a Destiny 2 type grind/hub world multiplayer game, this is it.

Timeless classic with a active multiplayer/Modding community.

Timeless classic, gameplay is dated but for 2004 the graphics and engine physics were so ahead of their time that it's still utilized and played today, whether through Gmod or Nexus mods being made for the game.

It's hard to believe a game studio that's backed up by a multi billion dollar company that just acquired Activision/Blizzard with a whopping 68.7 BILLION dollar deal and yet they can't seem to fix Sync issues or big team battle 4 months after release. Also with a 7 year development time including a 1 year delay with yet Forge, technically custom games and Co-op campaign unavailable till next year. I understand low staffing issues but that wasn't a problem until post release.

They removed assassinations, not sure if it was for "classic old school game play" (Please learn to cope and move on, nostalgia has you by the nut sack and its sad.) or if they just didn't bother because "Artistic choice." But way to make the game play even more bland.

Going back on what I meant by "technically custom games." Apparently you still cant create custom game lobbies with specific settings as of 3/22/22. Without Forge there's really no imagination for it. So In my opinion that means its still not released even if its in the main menu.

If you don't believe me about sync issues, whether its on PC or console, just scroll through the Halo discussions on Twitter and you'll either see the same complaints that I have or video proof of this.

As of right now I have yet to play the campaign so I have no comment on it.

Going back on this review, 5/20/22. The game is still lack luster in content but has a OVER haul of cosmetic buyouts and specific armor layout colors that cant be used with any other preset, all of which has a price tag on it. Pretty sad when you look at the history of what we were promised with this game and then the actuality of what we got, lackluster game with a ♥♥♥♥ ton of cosmetics, really paints a brim picture of what this "free to play" was actually made for.

They may have to somehow make money, I understand this to a degree, but when you have more shop items then actually variety in the game, there's a problem.

"Black Cats" is the best mission.
