Fun tower defense, some audio issues with the skip turn button. Was a nice challenge at times though. Excited to check out the full release~

This game scratches all the same itches as Slay the Spire. Anyone who liked STS will LOVE this game. It's my new favourite card battler.

I finished the story on the steam version a few months ago and was just thinking that I wish I could experience the story again for the first time. If you like story focused RPG's or JRPG's then this game is a must-play. If you like the 2d legend of zelda games you'll almost certainly enjoy what crosscode has to offer. The combat is very satisfying and customizeable to your playstyle so I think most people will enjoy it.

I never had to grind, I spent 60-70ish hours in crosscode to beat the main story and I liked to leave an area after having fully explored it, so maybe that's why. When I fought a hard boss I never felt like it was a statcheck, if I learned the attack patterns and when it was safe to attack/heal then I could beat it, stats meant a slightly longer/shorter fight most of the time.
Equipment has different effects that can have a much larger impact on a fight IMO. For example there's a buff on a couple equipment items that prevents you from being stopped when using a healing item -by something hitting you and knocking you out of the animation. Since you have to stand still for a few seconds, this effectively meant you didn't need to know the attack pattern if you had enough health to survive a hit. But even that wasn't necessary if you played smart, and that equipment wasn't particularly hard to get.

Personally I love the graphical style, but if you don't like it then that'd be a good reason to not buy it -the game is long and the graphics aren't going to change.
Besides that the only other reason I can think of to not play it is if you dislike the genre, since the combat and story are just great and super worth your time. I payed 15$ for it when it was on sale, it's worth 60$, this game is up there with my all time favourite rpg's.
