Early Access Review
TLDR: This game needs more time still too buggy to enjoy after 11 months of release.

The long version:
I bought this game a little after it was released. Played it, found out it was a completely buggy mess after my ship glitched out and broke while trying to off the launch pad. I love KSP 1 so this is not an issue, I continued playing KSP1 and left KSP2 to cook for longer hoping the devs would fix it up and make it fun to play.

The game has a great premise, a fun idea and it has a lot of other things going for it. The problem is that all these extra features and promises they made before release still havent been shown to us, not to despite all the bugs! Today I decided that its been nearly a year and it would be a good time to try a mission to see how this game is.

The idea was simple, make a rocket capable of landing on Laythe then take off and come back and land on kerbin. The execution was not as simple. Building the rocket I already found issues and bugs. The building process is a little different with the tools not working as intended sometimes. Symmetry mode doesnt always give proper symmetry and might put the parts on other items that you didnt intend to at all! Additionally staging was a mess, splitting up decouplers didnt work. Searched the internet and found that this was a common bug that was reported 10 months ago! The workaround is to exit the VAB and go back in and itll work. Such a small thing yet how annoying it is to do it for multiple stages.

Already frustrated from the building proccess I launch my rocket to see it completely glitch out and fall apart, so I add more struts as that is the solution to everything in KSP1 and it looks like they carried over this glitch to KSP2 great.

Taking off I was hoping for the FPS to be better then KSP1 with ships of this approximate size, with this size in modded KSP1 I get around 35fps. In KSP2 I got 11fps this was the framerate I got for the entire course of the mission which was terrible, I have a powerful computer so this should not be an issue at all: (RTX 3070, Ryzen 5 5600x, 32gb ram, SN850 NVME).

Getting past this I took off, found out that setting up orbits with the manouvering nodes is a little harder as they dont give you nearly as much information as KSP1 did, despite this simplistic view I got into orbit just fine but due to the lack of information I lost some precious Delta_V, luckily I overengineered my rocket so this was not an issue.

I then made another node to leave kerbins orbit to get ready for my transfer, this was still buggy and the lack of information makes things much harder. KSP1 tells you at what altitude the atmosphere bubble ends, it tells you in how long you will reach that point, the speed needed and a proper delta_V window that tells you exactly when to burn and how long to burn for. KSP2 has only this manouvering window which isnt actually accurate with its information! It makes you burn later then you really should and makes you again waste some Delta_V which is frustrating because then with the same tool that you can see is not giving you accurate information you have to again plot a correction burn to fix what initially this tool missreported great.

I had more issues with this tool while plotting my burns to Laythe around tylo for a gravity assist to slow down, I tried to plot a gravity assist around Duna but gave up after 2 correction burns after which the tool kept telling me to make after making my perfect nodes. Decided to just burn straight for it since I had the Delta_V for it. So I made a gravity assist around Tylo to have the Delta_V Ill need to land on laythe. This took 4 correction burns to actually have a close encounter with Tylo, this was an issue now as the first correction burn took nearly 600m/s of Delta_V at this point after all these correction burns I did not have enough Delta_V to land on Laythe and take off again, so I thought it would be fun to just land there and later on have a rescue mission. So after using my landing and take off stage I have an elliptical orbit, I start slowing down with the atmosphere (ALL WHILE STILL HAVING 11FPS), I tried rebooting the game and nothing apperently a craft with ~30parts leads to 11fps on this setup great.

I accelerate the time as the elliptical orbits took a while only to end up at the bottom of the ocean 27km underground? So I reverted to quicksave as this was obviously another bug. I accelerate the time again and the same thing happens. So I stop accelerating the time, as I was coming in for a landing I decouple my 2nd to last stage only for my ship to bug out and rip itself apart again at this point I alt F4d.

After about 2 days I came back to try and finish my landing. Now I found out that parachutes dont work as intended, drogue parachutes have the SAME safety speed as normal big parachutes do. What does this mean? This means that while coming in fast you cannot deploy drogue parachutes until you can deploy your main parachutes or they will simply just vanish leaving your ship helpless as it flies into the ground at well over 200m/s.

I didnt have the fuel to slow down further so no matter what I try I cant actually land since drag chutes are bugged. No matter how much I try I cannot enjoy this game in its current state, this adventure was a simple waste of time, I hope at least someone will find this review helpful. KSP1 is fun, the game works, this one only kind of works.

Do you enjoy pain and suffering? Do you enjoy ridiculous grinds where you have to spend hundreds and even thousands of hours to get the vehicle youve always wanted to try? Then this "game" is for you!

In all seriousness, gaijin is greedy and tries to make the experience as terrible as possible. They do not listen to their player base and seem to make changes that will only benefit them in making more money in the long run. Dont spend as many hours as I did to realize that this game is a huge waste of time which you wont enjoy. No war thunder player will tell you he enjoys the game its just addictive suffering

This game is a masterpiece, although I feel like it's not complete. The survival aspect of this game is far better than any game I have played here are the Pros and Cons :

Pros:
Endless experience (You have to do multiple runs for it to be truly endless)
Crafting
Hunting
Different types of food gathering.

Cons:
When you walk around you sometimes sprain your ankle or hand.

Food system relies on calories what you have in your stomach at the moment, it ignores the fact you have fat reserves. Also even if you eat an energy bar which can give you 500 calories you will still feel hungry as if your stomach was empty in my opinion the food system needs to be revamped as it's not very realistic.

Cannot chop down a whole tree.

Cannot fix a house (patch a hole) if it has holes in it or insulate it to make it warmer in there these would be nice additions.

Cannot throw stuff example: You climb timberwolf mountain but you get a lot of stuff you cannot climb down the rope since you are overencumbered so you have to make multiple trips, now by throwing stuff like tools, clothes, wood etc. should be possible by lowering their condition by a bit. You wouldn't be able to throw things like a can of beans since that would pop and spill upon impact.

Additions:
I feel like some clothes need to have ther values changed they need to be upped a professional insulated jacket giving you a 2 celsius bonus that should be upped in my opinion.

In early game you should be able to make makeshift clothing as putting a bed sheet around you which would help with the wind if it was a thick bed sheet it could even help with heating you up.

Making a house from scratch would be an interesting addition, breaking the walls of an already existing one and reworking them putting more insulation in it then building it onto your house which you will be making. Possibly a DLC since this one would take a lot of work.

Electricity would be an interesting and nice addition solar panels which would recharge batteries to turn on lights during the night or make an electric fire, of course this would be expensive to make and maintanence on the solar panels would be required due to the snow falling onto them and covering up sunlight.

Overall 7/10 still needs work but it's a fantastic game which is heading into the right direction.
Thanks for reading this.
