In this image, we see a horse facing the ocean, overwhelmed by its immensity, perhaps isolated by its magnitude, but perhaps humbled by it. During the closing credits of most episodes, a song describing Bojack's disposition in life as a has-been mediocre TV star coming to terms with the rest of his life ends with the lines "I guess I'll just try and make you understand that I'm more horse than a man... Or, I'm more man than a horse." I believe that the whole point of Bojack can essentially be boiled down to this line and this image, where we see a person on the coastline of existence, deciding whether they succumb to their impulses, relinquishing their humanity for the nihilism of being simply a horse, or whether they take hold of their destiny and choose to live better, to be Man.
