Honestly Overwatch was a great game.

But OW2 is just a cash grab. There are no meaningful updates from the OW1 base game, it was just an excuse to add a grossly overpriced cash shop and free-to-play monetization scheme. The PvP didn't benefit from the change, the PvE certainly didn't benefit, the players didn't benefit. The only benefit was to the developer who gets to rake in the profits from $20 skins and battlepasses galore. All they really did was take OW1 and smear it with a heaping helping of FOMO and greed, then shove it out the door and expect everyone to lap it up.

Then to put icing on the cake they cut the PvE content that was promised, the entire reason anyone was excited for OW2 and chop it up into little pieces missing most of the features and sell them to us piecemeal. The negative reviews for the most part aren't a campaign to reviewbomb the game, they're the honest feelings of a community that has been done wrong time and time again who now have a platform to express their grievances.
