An incredible experience altogether: the music, sound design, humor, and artstyle all mesh perfectly with the style of gameplay they were going for.

Though, the combat system leaves a bit to be desired; mainly consisting of a parry and heavy/light attacks in varying sequences to perform combos. The partner call-ins are cool, but there will be times where you'll just be running around and dodging attacks while waiting for their (albeit short) cool-downs to finish, because some enemies won't get hurt until their shield/plating gets destroyed and only certain partners/abilities can make them vulnerable.

I also wish they did more with the chip system (perk slots), I feel that there could've been lots of potential for them, but there weren't as many options as I had anticipated. And the upgrades for extra slots are pretty expensive and there's only so much you can customize with about 3 slots.

Regardless, I highly recommend this game to anyone. It isn't very long, so I can certainly forgive the combat feeling a bit stale over time. The rhythm part of the rhythm game is done really well, and I love how much the environment and UI moves to the beat. The cutscenes and animations are also synced to the beat; even your character's footsteps! I enjoyed every second of this game, and I hope you do too!

This is one of my favorite games of all time, but it is hard to recommend. You will die, a lot. And many deaths will not be something you could have possibly avoided because the game either never told you or an enemy spawned at the worst moment.
The game will get frustrating, but learning all the things in the game's world is so rewarding and fun. The environments are like nothing else, and they are all unique from one another. Every area has its own flavor and enemies to deal with. There is so much to learn just on the NPC behavior and if you do get this game, I highly suggest NOT to look anything up and just know that things will come through lots of trial and error. Just know that if there is a place you are stuck, or cannot pass for some reason, there is pretty much always a different area to explore and you can leave then come back at any time.

Fun. Love the style and feel of everything. However, this game will get frustrating at times, especially since the health units are so low; an enemy's attack that can deal 2-6 damage for example will not hurt at all on 2 damage but could instakill if they get lucky and land a 6. I've lost a game where my last two guys got oneshot with high damage attacks even though they had some health and armor.

Remember to Alt-F4 to restart any fight (or random event, though, I don't think it'll be the same one).

I played the original on miniclip so long ago, I remember the awe-inspiring fun designs of a simple golf game. This is just that but much more realized, to the point that this is pure art. 10/10 please pick this game up when you have the chance.

So much fun and customization!

I quit the game 6 or so years ago because I got stuck in normal mode like a loser. I came back to try again recently and decided "Why not do veteran difficulty?". Very hard, but I managed to do it without any help. You just gotta micro the archer hero around a bunch so she doesn't get obliterated in melee range, and choose the right upgrades for the later stages.

All in all, a very solid tower defense game, albeit very short; Though this makes sense because it is the first game in the series and i'm definitely going to go beat veteran mode on those titles when I get them.
