Early Access Review
Great game.

I found a bug where Nowack of the Survivor's Army came to get supplies from us and I said "No." A pair of heavily armored "neutral" vehicles sat at the entrance to my base for the rest of the game, helping out with enemies whenever they got too close. That was cool how this bug kept the southern part of my base covered so I could go explore the map or defend the rest of the walls.

Problems with food can be solved by learning the fertilization research and starting a cannery to get three cans of food for two rations. Make at least five fields. Keep in mind it takes two workers to tend the crops and tools, which can be hard to find, but you can make with a small building tool factory.

It's really a crap shoot with the buildings. I tried my hometown of Lincoln City, Oregon and found you can send a squad on an expedition deep into the Pacific Ocean. In a car. They must have used Flex Seal on it.

Also tried where my mom lives in a gated community in a smaller town, but the game let me know there were not that many buildings and it wouldn't be as fun. Game was right.

Overall the game is fun. The team is aware of infected spawning issues. I have been hit by massive waves of infected, dogs, and leaders early on and were it not for my masterful RTS skills, everyone would have perished. We are still here.

Make sure you are planning ahead and not destroying buildings you may need as you extend your walls. I made this mistake and lost a colony because of it. It's nice to get that surge of materials, but it could have been a place for people to live. Instead of turning them away and missing out on the workers (and hungry mouths).

The radio kills it for me sometimes. Too much of it. The one where the guy has the wrong number should be axed. Let it serve it's purpose, but please tone it down and for god's sake, let me skip or fast-forward faster! Maybe just let me turn it off?

Don't let anyone on Steam fool you. This game is solid and has the best map integration I've ever seen. Being able to make your HQ the house you grew up in is a Magnum Opus moment. If the team keeps at it, this could easily be on everyone's radar.

I would like to see more detail in the squads like armor and speed upgrades. Looks like that is planned.

Keep the game difficult and let the player's ♥♥♥♥♥. Adapt or die is what it would be like. With replayability being high with the map feature, there should be lot's of colony wipes.

I'm going back to play some more and expect some hot fixes or just a note to let me know you care.

Until next time. I'll be surviving.

EDIT: Team is on it like all the time. Great to see. Broke 100 hours. Played in so many cities. New York is cool. "I've been everywhere man"...(Johnny Cash)
