Another fun game in the series. Still, Capcom is playing a balancing act with difficulty, so veterans will complain about the ease in comparison to earlier games in the series

Early Access Review
A solid recreation of the pen-and-paper RPG, Solasta goes above and beyond the typical CRPG, rivaling other, more established names in the market such as 'Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous' and 'Balder's Gate 3.' As an indie title with a fixed budget, the downside is that it's light on the story elements, with a fixed campaign and setting, but it more than makes up for it in combat both simplifying and perfecting the fifth edition ruleset transition to PC, everything locked to a vertical and horizontal while being fully transparent with the dice rolls: no computer (or DM) fudging up dice rolls.

With the spring update, this game goes a step further by setting up the groundwork for user-created content through a map editor and Steam Workshop integration upon full release to allow for community campaigns, the future is bright for Solasta.

Edit: while nice, the addition of the Druid and Barbarian do not warrant an additional ten dollars if all it adds are the classes and backgrounds as well as their quests. You could argue that the addition of 6th level spells gives more weight to the content, but as that is an addition to the main game, that is an argument to be disregarded. Avoid this DLC unless it's on a discount of 50% or higher.

All meat, no filler.

Greats Tactics gets straight to the nitty-gritty of the turn-based tactics genre, the tactics. While this meat and potatoes is really good, offering a fun campaign and satisfying action economy (on the Gears' side; the Locusts really like to overwatch camp), it's not enough to keep you coming back for more, as there is no salad or breadsticks of a base layer strategy that trickles down into the combat layer; no autopsies, no base building, no diplomacy for support, despite (free) loot box RNG. You'll see everything there is to see about 20-30 hours in (thanks to some gameplay filler that should have been dedicated to a base or diplomacy layer), and even with its story and epic boss fights, will not keep you coming back for more, such as the steak that is XCOM: EW (especially when garnished with the Long War mod) or the customizable burger that is XCOM 2, with the curly fries and drink that is its WotC expansion (as well as all their mods) both of which can keep you engaged for thousands of hours.

Long story short: this game is meat and potatoes. They're really, really good, but the lack of anything else doesn't make coming for second very appetizing.

The long and short of it, this should have remained on the portable like the remaster of Dementium: The Ward. The upgraded visuals are great... in comparison to the DS original. Voice work is good... for its original release. Controls aren't great, but usable. It gets the job done for those with nostalgia for the original and wanted this on 3DS like the remake for the first game, but for newcomers, at best, this is an equivalent to fun, indie, Eurojank games, which is nothing to scoff at or be ashamed of, but a disappointment for the creators, Renegade Kid, in series that could have remained as a forgotten gem of handheld games.

Just find a crack online to get rid of Uplay. Steam should not allow games that force you to use more third-party software. Played this on console, but bought it again just to post this.

Remember the Castlevania games of the DS era? Order of Ecclesia, Aria/Dawn of Sorrow, being most evident in gameplay, accompanied by Portrait of Ruin's desire for diverse locale and enemy designs. Remember how Symphony of the Night set the standard for a good Metroidvania? This is a love letter, a spiritual successor, an unofficial sequel to the series, since IGA and KONAMI had their divorce and kept custody of their child only to neglect them.

If you like the genre, you'll love this game; otherwise, you will find this game either too easy or too hard, but it'll be worth giving it a shot.

Edit: Still waiting on the free content promised.
Edit 2: Fun little romp added with Zangetsu, but no new achievements, unfortunately.

While a fun game its own right, it doesn't quite bring the same flair it had in the original Revelations. Still, good fun is to be had due to the Raid mode and different atmosphere along with supported multiplayer.

A very solid investment for the game, with multiple playthroughs encouraged by additions brought in by modders giving more bang for your buck. Still, you should limit yourself if you're on low-end PCs, as they could bring down your framerate.

Don't bother with it. You're a fool to get this extra cash-grab. If you really want it, I recommend getting the season pass from a retailer.
