The Receiver series is special in how unforgiving it is with the ultimate fear of all players: lost progress. You really have to focus in these games and prepare to do over things you've already completed because of mistakes or luck, and it can absolutely become infuriating.

Yet, I can't help but love this game and its predecessor regardless. Whether its the amazing soundtrack, easy-to-learn-hard-to-master game mechanics, interesting and creative lore, or the ability to learn genuine knowledge you can apply to life from the tapes, this game is a masterclass product in a mostly profit-over-all focused world. It's not perfect, but nothing is.

I don't think you or I will ever find a game series quite like Receiver, so why not take the plunge? Whether it takes you 2 hours to beat it or 20+, you'll still walk away having only gained for yourself and improving your mindset.

EDIT: It's been over a year now and I finally beat the game. I took an extended break then beat the whole thing in one sitting. It was so worth it, and well worth a replay. My opinion on the game has not changed; it has only improved.
