been playing these types of games for years. this isn't a good one for a myriad of reasons that I'm too lazy to list - but please PLEASE take my word for it. Do not buy this game.

on top of that, it's painfully obvious how flawed Rare's business model for this game is. It will be dead within 2 years.

i would like to think I might have gotten laid if instead of sinking 1,000+ hours in to this cesspool I spent some time outside or went to a bar or something. probably not.

maybe though. maybe.

I'd do it all over again the exact same way.

combat system was meh, too many repetitive levels

Used to be a negative review.

The game is finally in a state that I would recommend, after the better part of a decade.

Can't even get past the black screen on game startup more than a year after launch.

Only thing I liked about this game was that you got to kill Orcs.

Story is mediocre..

The combat system requires that you do a finisher move on 90% of the orcs that you kill, but then doesn't allow for that to happen because it takes 10 seconds to do that while you're getting attacked by other orcs. It's like they have a fetish for overly dramatic kill sequences.

First off let me say that this game is one of the best games I have ever played.


If you're looking for an medivel simulator where it's just mindless killing, go somewhere else; because this game is so much more than that.
When you first start playing, you are immediatly thrust into an extremely diverse world where events are based off of your choices, not just code. You choose what you are most talented in, and what weapons you are best at. After that, you choose what your backround is, where you start your adventure, and most importantly, your destiny, whether it be a ruthless bandit or noble king. During the rest of the adventure you are battling (and also playing a little bit of politics) in a fairly well made map, full of cities that each have their own unique design. One of my favorite parts about it is forming your army, because you choose what types of soldiers you have in it. Each faction also has its own unique troop tree. Towards the end of the game, if you have played it right, all of the pieces start falling into place, and you become more powerful, or you meet your demise.

Time for the mods.

This game is very good by itself, but if you put mods into the equation, it is limitless. There are hundreds of mods to choose from, but here are my 5 favorites you should check out:
1. Prophecy of Pendor 3.611
2. Warsword Conquest
3. RaW 2.5
4. Native Expansion (BETA)
5. Blood in the West

In conclusion, this game is a must buy. Definetly the best medivel simulator on the market in its time.
