I went into this game expecting a reiteration of Banjo Kazooie, Banjo Tooie with mixes of their other games. That's exactly what I got. I wasn't a backer. I bought this game despite negative reviews because everything that people said was a negative quality I found to be rather entertaining and a taste of what I really did want from this project, more of RARE. Now the polish on the story isn't that good and the characters voices aren't as easy on the ears as Banjo or Conker's but this game's gameplay, is fantastic and really does bring a good call-back to the titles everyone used to love. I've played old titles recently, especially older platformers on my consoles and this lives up to them, doesn't exceed them, but it's 100% a creative approach and a well done game as a result. Some puzzles will frustrate you, sometimes you'll feel clueless, sometimes you'll have to back track to beat a certain part of a level but once you get a feel for the game all of this becomes enjoyable. However it is divisive and some people it simply isn't for. If you like RARE games, you will not be disappointed, this is basically Banjo Three-ie but you can't look at them through nostalgia goggles and expect it to be perfect, this is a solid 7.5 or maybe even an 8/10 platformer. It's a good game despite the critism it's been receiving and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoyed the RARE platformers like Banjo, DK64, Conker and more. They brought back collectathons, Minecart Courses and a bunch of interesting bosses and platforming puzzles to solve. Overall I think everything aside from the Rextro games was what people wanted who knew what Playtonic was making. A good old-school platformer that doesn't change too much but keeps the same gameplay charm a niche amount of people have craved.
