Honestly, I can't be mad it doesn't even reach close to how good Shadowbringers or Endwalker was in terms of story but this one just felt like: eugh. Expected chill time with scions in tuliyolal, doing some exploration with them and doing small things with wuk lamat but oh well, it's all wuk lamat. Didn't skip a single cutscene but if i could go back few weeks i'd probably do it now that i know how the story ends. MSQ missions were such a chore to do. I was half expecting some cool msq missions like one we had in EW in farlemald but all i got was
-talk with wuk lamat
-talk with x npc
There was a single mission where i genuinely felt like: "WOOOOOOOO yeah baby that's what i've been waiting for" but one mission out of multiple doesn't make the rest of the msq enjoyable.


Also who in god's green earth let the english VA for Wuk Lamat cook and did not a single soul compare it to the others VA's? There's few parts in which her voice just doesn't reflect how serious the situation is and I'm cringing so hard i'm causing permanent damage to my teeth.

One thing I can say with confidence is that the dungeons, trials and raids (so far) have been some of the more enjoyable content.

This expansion is definitely not the best yet not the worst but i expected a lot more.

Got myself vr headset and decided to give VR Chat a shot.

Tried some horror map and got mildly spooked. Can imagine there being some creative and fun maps out there.
Found some genuinely entertaining people to talk with, people crashing the game by ridiculous character models and some characters which I wish I had not seen. My ears are ringing from the ear fondling caused by people blasting music.

Helltaker ost review (or at least the tracks i remember from the game):
Vitality: Classic. Had a funny meme dance going for it a while. Definitely a jammer you can loop for hour or two. 9/10
Apropos: Compared to the other bangers in the ost, this one feels like it's the odd one out. It's okay in it's own way but to the rest of the tracks this one just feels like the weirdest one 4/10.
Epitomize: absolute fire right from the beginning, gives me the far away galaxy type of nightclub music vibes. 9/10
Alchemy: Another banger from mittsies, Definitely up there with Titanium and vitality. 8/10
Luminescent: Like apropos, this one is more of a slow paced but i think the more upbeat sounds make this personally more enjoyable than apro and that's why i give it 5/10.
Titanium: Like epitomize, this one is just banger from the beginning and very nice to listen on loop like vitality. 10/10

As many players have noted, do not buy this from steam. Go get it from square enix's website. I haven't noticed any game play related issues but you get to play the game for much longer as f2p if you get it from there.

But if we cast aside the bad decision what some of us have done, the game itself is pretty good. There will be times that the game can feel slightly slow and tedious with some of the quests. This is case with some of the main story quests where you need to walk from x to y for 10 minutes only to talk only one dialogue and then be forwarded back to where you came from. If you don't feel like blankly staring at your monitor for that time i'd open youtube on second monitor and just watch something while you need to walk. It doesn't happen that often but trust me there will be those quests.

BUT the times where the action actually happens this game is very fun. When the story starts to pop off it nails it, People in your raids act positively even if you fail very often, unlike in many multiplayer games these days. Later on some of the dungeons/duties have ridiculous party sizes which is really cool. There is good variety of classes you can choose but keep in mind some of them are locked behind expansions/dlcs. The songs for some areas and the visual style in some of the locations are amaizing. There's bunch of side activities to do if you don't want to grind the main story. For example, Fishing, smithing, playing music. Genuinely finest of the experiences have been had at 2am when a random bard duel starts or people start to get so tired that the conversations goes from intellectual to drunkard tier.

alright now that most people stopped reading the review i tell the only important reason to buy this game: It has cat and bunny girls.

Overall counting the positives and negatives i'd say this game is solid 8/10.

It's decent game

This game has caused emotions i never knew could exist. I hated this game the entire time i played it and i enjoyed the time that i hated this game.

What i like about this game is that you feel pretty strong right from the beginning. Many other rogue lite games suffer from this problem, where you feel extremely weak for a long time until you get a very strong item.
The base starter sword with even defensive boon will clear most of the early enemies with ease.
The game has also very good learning curve progression system.

One of the better things about this game is also it's ost. Some of the tracks slap harder than they need to and some help make the atmosphere of the areas better.

Overall very nice game with great theme.
