Best Metroidvania in years. Only Silksong would top this.

Is it a bad game?: Yes.
Is it fun?: Not on the first playthrough, at least.
But if you consider yourself a Souls fan, you should experience the pain caused by this game, at least once, to be able to appreciate the quality of all the other titles in the series.

It's the Dark Souls of Souls games.

It's PvZ before EA came around and forced PopCap to vomit a sequel.

It might be a bit outdated in visuals, but you'll soon forget about it once you start filling the lawn with a miniature military complex of deadly, somehow animated plants and fungi. It requires some strategical thinking, but it has an easy start that will quickly push you into always thinking a couple steps ahead of the Zombies... or at least try.

Then we also have some fun minigames that give the game a twist, and the Zen Garden, for those who want to take a break from shooting hordes of Zombies.

If you like a classic in strategy titles, plants, or zombies, give this one a spin.
The last [good] Garden Warfare title, the second one, released in 2016, had its artistic style inspired not in the round and gleamy style of the currently mobile exclusive, in-game purchase infested, PvZ2, but on the style of the original, this one game we have here on Steam. That should tell you something...

If you're into retro dooms and perks gained at random, try this.

I decided to play it for three reasons:
1: It's free;
2: It's trending in the meme scene;
3: The artwork is cute and lewd to an extent.
Surprisingly, the lewd factor was quickly overshadowed by the complex puzzles, which made for a fun time solving. Personally, I'd place this as a selling point on the list too.
I like to see this project as - ironically - an educational game that teaches men what they shouldn't seek in a woman. There's only two or three characters I can sympathize with, squinting hard enough.
It also comes with two difficult challenges that can be overcome with enough trial-&-error, though I'll admit I only solved the first one thanks to YouTube.
Also - it's free. What are you waiting for?

It's somewhat complex, but quite the chill experience in the right conditions.
Enjoying breakfast to this must be a blast.

5 YEARS LATER, STILL GETTING DLC, GREAT GOODNESS!

Trust me. If you like stealth games or simply enjoy a good plataformer with a wide variety of moves, then this game is a "must have" on your library.

They grabbed the sneaks of Mark of the Ninja and shoved it into the sort of 3D top-down tryhardiest game I've seen from Klei.
