This POS game is 10x worse than the 10 year old original "The Crew" but they're now pulling the plug on that game because even though it was a good single player experience you couldn't play it offline. Ubisoft is a scam, don't invest in online games these things are rediculous. You're renting a game, not buying it.

The Crew 2 sucks, tried to play it a few times it lacks all the atmosphere the original had and the graphics are downgraded. Ubisoft is really the place to go if you hate yourself. Screw these suits.

This was a really good game but by all rights should've been 100% playable offine. Now they're taking it away and they honestly should get sued. This should not be legal, now all we have is the somehow inferior sequel which is terrible in comparison to this 10 year old game.

Best railroad game I've ever played, I enjoy the sims but this actually lets you carry out operations which I find much more fascinating than just a single run or super long hauls although you can do a full run down the line which is something like 62 miles so there's that. The addition of the auto engineer waypoint system means solo players can run as many locos as they want and have them be crewed to carry out operations and you just have to pay the engineers wages which are pretty darn cheap. This game is just awesome, I only hope we get more in the 3d modeling department because I know this game, in terms of development, is a hobby to them but I sure would love to see more scenic buildings and some love put into the already awesome locos we have in the game as their quality doesn't feel consistent.

This is not for the hardcore steam sim fan, but if you like tycoons, or just running a railroad or even using simple controls to run a loco this is just the best game out there to fill that niche.

Summery:
Standard DLC formula high High quality, no customization at all.

-1066 is an automatic, CVT or something, not sure but its modeled very nice, I would have preferred a manual variant or at least the option to have a manual. 140 HP is a beast for an old small(er) tractor and I love it. Needs customization options, they won't ever come but we can dream. With the HP it has it can use a wide range of implements which is fantastic, that was the only issue with the other classic tractors is they were simply too weak and there were no alternatives.

-120C is manual (or powershift, which is identical in-game so who cares) which is great, nice to have something utilize the manual transmission feature they touted at launch and pretty much steered clear from even though most tractor manufacturers offer manual or CVT from the FACTORY as an OPTION with all or most engine options.... just food for thought. Customization is meh, got the sensor package for the precision farming mod thing whatever its called, so that's good. 120 HP max (hence the name) kinda lower end but that's what it is and I love the fact the older tractor has more HP. I've been waiting for an older tractor with higher hp that wasn't a volvo. (not that it was bad)

What the pack should've had:
1066 TRICYCLE config, c'mon the mods do it, the farm I worked on only used the tricycle setup. DOUBLED rear wheels for traction, another feature the game is supposed to emphasize. WIDE wheels, because there's a few pics on the interwebs with some very snazzy chonk boy wheels even on the tricycle configs. And probably adjustable wheel width, I'm not sure if this was a thing on the 1066 but it was pretty common on older models, and not as customization but as a mouse action (mods do this) and a AWD variant, engine variants and transmissions, etc.

What we need next:
More Farmall, Massey and Kubota. No more John Deere we gotta even it out a bit. I'm US so I only care about US content, I know we won't get more for a while but I can dream.

Haters:
The modding community is great, but the best free mod isn't as good as any DLC graphically or polish wise, features are done better by modders and accessories are far superior, but quality is just simply why I buy from Giants and for that sole reason I am not diappointed.

Verdict: Its 3 bucks, there's no reason to skip this one but the potential will always leave you high and dry. Feels like US content gets the short end of the stick with this game but I'll take what I can get.

Keep in mind my complaints aren't with quality, they're more so sharing a perspective of someone that just doesn't like the game. Its a solid game, so if you want the pros, or a more in-depth breakdown, read someone else's review.

Lower quality Star Citizen, you can play in loner mode but you have to have internet at all times. When it first came out it was kinda cool, but like....I'm a loner, I play single player, this game has no reason to be online only when the only purpose for a space trucker is to be the victim of player space pirates. If you're into multiplayer its solid, might be worth it for the differences from Star Citizen in aesthetic and gameplay, but I think Star Citizen already trumps that anyhow. This has microtransactions too, so that sucks. I didn't want years of support, I just wanted a complete game and maybe DLC.

Very unimpressed.

P.S. I still play multiplayer games, I don't only play single player, but I never get the level of fulfillment or satisfaction in multiplayer; the games are just an excuse to keep charging you for various things. This is not a majority opinion so the market will always lean toward online services, but that juts means I, as well as other solo players will likely stick with indie or time tested games.

Mediocre nostalgia heavy campaign, no groundbreaking gameplay or original story. Multiplayer is just fortnite lookn monetization and all the core halo elements (well, what was even there to begin with) left shortly after launch. Fun with friends, but what isn't. Time for the fans of Reach and 1-3 and ODST to move on. I think they'll make good money off this, because in this market a game doesn't have to be good - it just has to sell.

If you get it just for the campaign it is worth maybe 30 bucks to a middle class worker with cash to spare. 60 if you don't care about money.

Revolutionary feature: play as a squad of Master Chiefs in the campaign because armor customization and unique story are too hard for us when we're focused on monetizing the living hell out of multiplayer guys! ;D

This game was iffy but kinda nice at launch, and now it is the big sad.

Bought this for 2 reasons: the awesome looking little boat, and to support the devs. Was not disappointed. The little boat has the coolest cabin design, awesome little work deck, and full crew support! So you can either do tasks alongside your crew or put on your skipper cap and kick it in the cab while they do all the work. The boats have so much character and its all the merrier seeing how they're from a rear manufacturer. Just a lovely DLC.

Good project route, or if you're unfamiliar with the route then its just a good route.

Pros:
-Very decently long route with fairly accurate scenery
-Missions
-Tehachapi Loop (C'mon its a wonder)

Cons:
-Bakersfield yard (this is a nitpick, but the kid in me wants justice, where's the turntable and the roundhouse? Even the turn table is still there today at the UP, formly SP, yard.)
-Bland color pallet (another nitpick, but there's quite a bit of green during certain parts of the year, this is easily changed though.

Verdict:
I think its worth the money, content wise there is definitely 25 bucks worth. Plus if you clone the route you can edit it so I plan on fixing the Bakersfield yard and adding more vibrant grass to the hills running up past Bakersfield when you hit the farm lands and up the hill. The Mojave is more accurate I feel, suitably for the DLC called Mojave sub. If you like the Tehachapi route and want (what feels like) a full scale route then certainly go for it, it has aged well.

Update #2: they actually broke the entire game as of 11/16/23, it is now 11/18/23 with no update or response from the team. This isn't in itself a red flag as these things happen, but add that to everything else and its just hilarious.

Update: new features are getting added to trainz plus, modernizing the game and straight up fixing bugs, but it crushed my soul when I read this from one of the devs/reps:

"For those who aren’t currently members of Trainz Plus, I guess they just need to decide if they’re interested in supporting a hobby that costs less than $1.50 a week, or prefer to wait a while and get the benefits some time later."

Yeah, this company is the scum of the earth. The excuse was "we're a company, we need more people, subscription could bring more revenue but nobody is buying it" (paraphrasing) WELL GUESS WHAT, YOU DON'T GROW A COMPANY OF A DYING NICHE GAME BY STRANGLING THE EXISTING PLAYERBASE AND PATRONS.

Some content you can't even buy unless you are subscribed to trainz plus, and then you still have to buy that special dlc separate and can only use it while you're subscribed unless you own retail I assume/hope you could still use it after subscription expires. We're talking 82-150 USD annually for a niche video game with the justification you get 4k$ worth of DLC for free but they do not mention that 80% of this DLC is bugged, hilariously out of date, or just trash, because it's almost all 3rd party with no QA. I didn't know about this rabbit hole until now and wow, I was throwing money at the most egregious company out there... Well not anymore, I'm so sorry I'd rather buy to own instead of pay rent but I will clarify; you made more money off me than a Year's subscription, and it would've been more if you didn't make such horrible business choices.

I want to give you money, you want my money, but backstabbing seemed like the only solution? No it's ignorance, purely incompetent. Having all the DLC would be good enough for some people to get the subscription, but some of us simply refuse to do subscriptions and if that's the future of trainz then there likely is no future for trainz; you complained not enough people were subscribing, but your solution was to paywall essential content that would improve the base product and encourage new players to buy. It's so unbelievable, it's astounding. You can definitely turn things around, you'll lose some of the already small subscriber base but you may regain regular retail market traffic if you stop this mascarade of shady business practices. Good business = good income, you have not had a healthy business model at any point, if anything your sales will shrink as people see what you've done.

Oh and lets not forget the steam version of Trainz Plus does not include Trainz Plus content exclusive to the Trainz Plus from their website, which is slightly more expensive. So yes, folks, spend money on these guys it'll be well spent, just don't forget to pay for the download speeds or you'll leave your computer on all night to download a couple MEGABYTES, not Gigs, Mbs. Now you won't see too many complain about that unless they've outplayed their free trial of the 'first class ticket' (download speed unlocker, y'know, because its not like you pay for internet and expect that to be the only limitation) Heck, I'd pay for the HD terrain feature that fixes a bug where the rails disappear if your shader setting is set to ultra, but no gotta have trainz plus. I'd pay for the new dispatching interface (oh wait, I forgot I bought another Trainz game that ought to cover these things because I spent darn near 80$ USD), or the multiplayer surveyor. Trainz plus folks, such a great deal and not scummy at all, its not an utter insult to all those who thought owning a product would be better than renting it at all.

Overall I just really really feel ashamed for not seeing this for the scam it is, and it's a darn shame because what is at its core is so good but the solution for modernizing it has ironically led to its demise.

We are just about to the point where it would be more cost effective to build a physical model railroad, and quality would be consistent, you wouldn't have to worry about scummy micro and MACRO transactions and subscriptions and download speeds and snarky devs (snark aside, what you said is objectively dehumanizing for anyone that invested in anything other than your subscription, well done PR.) And honestly this seems like a boiling mess that, if the right people get involved/informed, will end in a big flaming lawsuit that results in the reimbursement of players and the end of a predatory company...I don't think they're big enough to snuff out that fire considering their goal is to hire one employee a year.

Dovetail is somehow less terrible, so go enjoy actually good graphics, terribly priced DLCs that are at least made clear up front with no sly business practices... Wow yeah we're there, dovetail are the good guys now holy smokes this is just nuts.

Icing on the cake: all of the locos by this 3rd party developer use the old interior from the 2-6-6-6 which is virtually an out-dated version of the updated 'Berkshire Interior' which has proper graphics for the current year. You can swap the cab with a simple edit of the config file if only we were allowed to do this, if I own both parts of content why am I not allowed to combine them within the game. Money money money and then backstabbing you for trying to get your money's worth out of the product. Thats all this entire scheme is; bad product.

This is one of those you have to avoid unless you're desperate for more American steam. Which I was/am.

"custom cab" is borderline false advertisement as this is the same cab model across all their American steam locomotive DLCs, and it's quite out of date at that. None of these engines have any real texture work and the paint is so dark that it doesn't even look real. There is too much sheen indicating they're brand new paint, no weathering.

Pros: model (textures aside) is good
Marker lights work, rear headlight works.

Cons:
-sounds are recycled and terrible
-Animations are broken, the bell will magically stop swinging whenever you turn it off (mid swing) even though they shouldn't swing as they clip through the model.
-textures are amateur at best
-cab model is recycled asset from 2-6-6-6 along with whistle sound.
-light flares are crystal white, non-existent in that era and very saddening.
-interior camera sequence does not allow smooth transition between drivers seat and head out window view, which atm you have to use on every loco side from the QJ which actually allows you to see the full animated when rig from interior view if you lean out window using movement keys.

Just a big ol L, low effort, low enjoyment, low expectations.
