The game is gorgeous but is very linear and doesn't give you any freedom in anything.

Walking up to a cliff - only in this exact position, going back - sorry, you have to move forward, going further this path - sorry, you have to further explore the location you're in.

Diary is useless, it doesn't give you any valuable information, but you forced to use it to complete the dialogues. Both detectors are useless too, you don't need them at all, since the environment is so linear, you just can't pass the point of interest.

Additionally, there are too many scripted situations and cut-scenes. There's no danger you have to avoid, no challenges you have to face.

There's no game mechanics that you have to use to complete the game, all 'toggle this' or 'use that' are just scripted animation sequences, you cannot mess up, there's no consequences for any of your decisions.

I was expecting something similar to Long Dark but on an alien planet. Even Firewatch was much more fun, you could go anywhere and always find something interesting, the game allowed you to play it on your own way.

I understand there is a certain type of people who would enjoy the game, but it's just not for the rest of us, if you don't mind me being a little arrogant.

Thank you. I was hoping that the full game would give the player more freedom then the demo.

i disagree i think the linear nature of this "game" is exactly what made it so good, i see this however as more of a highly interactive visual novel then a game but honestly I loved it, I want another one

This is exactly why Steam needs to change there review format....because of reviewers like this Clue Less person that FAILED to read what this game is about...and gives it a negative review because it isn't what he wants and only played for 1.3 hours. Seriously MR "Don't mind me being a little arrogant!

A linear game is not a reason to give it a negative review. That's the type of game it was going for. Not sure why you were expecting a survival game when they aren't selling it as one. Maybe you should have looked at it better before you bought it. I hope you don't get paid to review games because you don't actually offer any real constructive criticism.
Just because it isn't what you want doesn't make it a bad game.

Wow, like ohhhhh my god a linear story....not in 2023 when I need my open world rps. opewn world rpgs are the besti like every best games. We don't wan'tor need linear stories in 2023.

I mean.. the store description explains that it's a direct novel adaptation from the first words.

I appreciate your detailed review but suggest that players research the game's design before buying. It's crafted as a linear, story-driven journey, prioritizing ambiance and narrative, not the open-world exploration or complex mechanics found in games like 'The Long Dark' or 'Firewatch.' This game is about a controlled, cinematic experience, delivering exactly what it's designed for. It's ideal for those who prefer a guided, narrative-focused game. However, if you're seeking gameplay freedom and exploration, this might not suit your preferences.

Ok, shame.
Thanks for the review.

Yeah it's a "walking simulator" based on a book that is all about atmosphere and backstory. Do your research before purchase next time - if you don't mind me being a little arrogant.
