I love this games narrative and how you the character is able to interact and change that narrative. The characters are deep and all undergo character arcs that are, again, influenced by you the characters choices and actions. If you wanna make someone the biggest ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ anyone has ever met, you can do that. Likewise if you wanna fix that very same person and make them a good guy you can do that too. My biggest gripe is unavoidable, this is NOT DnD at your friends table where you can bargain with the DM and do fun things that aren't explicitly in the rulebook, this is a computer DM and you can do anything you want inside the constraints of the computer DMs rulebook and its more limited then I would like. That said this suffers IMO from two things, lack of a tutorial for those who have not played DnD or have not played 5e (this is the camp I was in). Having to dig and read and watch youtube viddys to figure out what was going on game engine wise was really frustrating. The other is the difficulty scaling during a playthru. I played on Balanced difficulty on my first playthru and I would go from wow this is too easy and steam rolling everyone and everything to wow this encounter party wiped me for the 4th time in a row with no tangible reason as to why. Even after all that this game is gonna be played through multiple times. There are too many different kinds of play throughs to not. Too many other stories and choice consequences to see and experience. Plus once you DO know how the game engine is functioning and how buildcrafting really works it gets a whole lot more fun.
