I honestly had a hard time reviewing this game, because it fits into such a unique niche

This game is a nostalgia bomb. Great chiptune and cute graphics with all the charm of booting up an GameBoy game in your new GameBoy Color and seeing the greyscale bloom into color for the first time.

Or maybe, this game is an Idle Game that gets Idle games. A tamagotchi companion whose window you can set to stay up front and intended to be played on a GameBoy sized screen, perfect for sitting next to that YouTube video you have on your second monitor. Ready to beep at you, if you'd like, for that occasional dose of good brain chemicals or to be an occasional keyboard stim toy.

Or I could say, this game is a passion project from a team that's enjoyed all of the above with a side of a cozy day in with a new RPG. From head to toe the game oozes charm. It's filled with bits, secrets, and references. I think it's this that keeps me coming back, keeping that window running in the corner of my screen,

Overall, I'd say this is worth every penny of the 7.99 asking price. And that's not even considering that the game is getting better week by week. You can take a peek at the recent updates and see them tweaking the experience bit by bit. Or jump in the discussion threads and see the devs seeking and responding to feedback and suggestions. Maybe with a twang of the humor that permeates the game. There's a huge amount of care there

An overambitious project that overcame a struggled start. While many developers would have given up under such negative reviews, Hello Games worked through the deadline releasing update after update of free content. I speculate the state at release had more to do with the publishers than the developers, and I salute them for sticking with it.
