I've played every game the devs put out and The Cat Lady is still in my top 5 best indie horror games- and really just top horror games in general. The story and characters in Burnhouse Lane are fantastic and something that the devs always seem to nail but it's the gameplay that's a little frustrating. The game uses manual saves and they are often few and far between when you actually need them. Nearly every enemy in the game is a one hit kill which can get really frustrating really fast, especially when you have to load a save that's really far back from where you were. The platforming sections definitely need work because they're a little janky at times.
I recommend this game in general, especially to long-time fans of the other games. When it comes to new players I would suggest starting with The Cat Lady or Downfall as they are fantastic games that introduce the series in a way that might be more enjoyable. I appreciate that they were trying new things with this game I just felt like some mechanics fell really flat while the rest of it was as enjoyable as their other games.
