Fallout 4 is a good game, it has plenty to offer and does not hold you back in terms of freedom, you can do pretty much as you please as long as you can survive the horrors of the wasteland. There are plenty of side missions and the skills offered provide different types of engagement options, be it melee, long range sniping or relying on the burst of your machine gun.

I love the settlement building and while it's quirky at times I have spent an equal amount of time building settlements as I have done questing, the modding community offers plenty of variety here if you wish to dwell into further building options. You can build some pretty darn unique settlements, just check youtube for the imagination of some folks outthere.

Those hating the game due to comparisons with previous releases are stuck in a time loop where changes aren´t welcome. Fallout 4 is far more friendly to new players than it´s previous installments (disregarding 1&2), it introduces a system that is easy to understand and cope with, the game does not lack personality nor does it fail in providing a story that is rich in detail.

The settlement building could have had more work done to it, especially the settler AI, I think the devs rushed this part and left it unfinished. It does work at times and is actually rewarding when everyone you know in the game sits at your neatly designed recreation launge having a good time. The skill requirement for trading between settlements should have been lower though, 6 in charisma is a must, the only skill I feel has to be taken to fully enjoy the game.

I like to review a game on its on own merits without having to resort to my opinion of previous installments, it gets a solid 8 out of 10 from me.
