Path of Exile, has many aspects that resemble Diablo 3 like the cosmetics and fighting techniques of the characters, yet is a pretty decent game on its own, decent graphics, good story, and a good alternative if you are into this kind of games and can afford to pay for D3 or Grim Dawn because it's free!!!, yeah it has microtransactions but that doesn't mean you have to buy anything, although buying a little something to support the devs I'd say it's fair enough since you end up paying normally for a game like this no less than 20 bucks, so why not throw something that will help the devs to keep this game up, right?.

I have been playing this game for a few days already and at first it seemed way to easy but as you progress through the game the difficulty adjusts to your level which is pretty cool, I love the skill three, many possibilities; the variety of flasks is another thing that I find very useful, all the way from healing to an extra buff for defences.

I only have three major complaints about this game:

First, it's very hard to get legendary items I have 30+ hrs and I have had 4 only and three of the them are the same, an armour you get for hunting the beasts, perhaps it's just my luck. I am just doing my first playthrough so I assume is due to that but I will see if it changes once i get to NG+

The second thing I don't like is the hitboxes, I find it somehow clumsy when aiming, there is many times that I am surrounded by a mob and end up killed because I couldn't connect a hit on any of the enemies, especially since I am a close-combat guy this gets a bit annoying at times.

The third is the inventory (not the stash), oh dear! you have to make way too many trips to the merchants to empty, I really find especially this aspect very annoying, I try to manage the inventory the best I can but still,, the only alternative I have found is only picking up 1-2 slot items such as flasks, jewellery, and belts to exchange for materials/currency. but I have to even be choosy now with the rare items and only pick up what I am really going to use.

It would be fantastic if the devs could implement something like in Grim Dawn, multiple tabs for inventory, otherwise what is the point getting so much loot is I cannot have it :(. I wouldn't mind paying to get the extra inventory tabs, yes I am loot junkie, doesn't matter if the items are worth nothing I want them all.

Other than that, I highly recommend this game

With 1K + playing hours with my own steam account and around 500 more hrs with my pal's account all I can say is this game is just darn good,, and it will a bit better with the upcoming expansion, cant wait to check out the loot. Diablo 3 has nothing on grim dawn, god job devs thanks a bunch for this amazing piece of art.

Well, I thought it was going to be something like TES previous games, so I thought to give it a shot, for free so whatever, but this game doesn't feel quite like TES AT ALL!. It literally took me more time to download and install the bloody game than uninstalling it.

I have been playing TES since Dagerfall and Arena and this game doesn’t fit the bill, I am a fan of TES but not of MMOs and this game didn’t help with that. It was for free and still felt like they ripped me off
Combat system is good can’t complain, graphics as well but that’s about it.

Now the bad, the TES games are all about exploring, looting and crafting and this game you literally have to be racing other players for materials and loot (that’s why I hate MMOs). Then the subscription fees and horrendous inventory management . . .

Thanks, but no thanks. I rather re-play the previous TES games than this thing.

Bethesda, what have you done with TES?

Van Helsing II, didn't quite meet my expectations, I am normally easy to please and as a developer myself I like to give fellow devs a chance and try their products.

Right after finishing part I (Which is a pretty decent game) I installed part II and imported my character, once I made it out of the lair I started fighting the mobs but they were brutal I was like "wow" I thought because of the lvl of my character and the difficulty, I always play the highest difficulty to make it challenging but these guys were literally moping the floor with my face pretty good in spite of having a tank build for me and lady Kat, on top of thatd epic equipment, enchanted, enhanced, you name it.

So, after my failure I decided to start from 0 and created new character and lower to hard difficulty and ... surprise, it made no difference whatsoever still failing like a champ, then I lowered the difficulty to easy and i noticed that the enemies deal ridiculous excessive damage regardless of the difficulty (either that or I really suck).

Anyways I changed back to my imported character and just kept on following the game and noticed that you don’t have to do anything the allies kill all the enemies even the spider robot, so I didn’t find any sense on playing a game that doesn’t need a hero, lame if you ask me. I don’t even think is playable if you get mobed, I could easily kite the mobs on VH 1 and the damage I was getting was high but not as much as in VH 2, but not just that, at least I was the main protagonist of the game and things needed to get done by me so dying and sweating were worthwhile.

Then the combat system got a bit sloppy, you have to re- aim after you kill an enemy and the hitboxes are bad because some times I couldn’t lock on the targets and just kept on running and getting my arse handed to me while trying to find something to hit, meeeh.

Bottom line, I wouldn’t recommend this game, after the allies did the job for me I decided to leave the rest of the game to them, they don’t need Mr. Van Helsing, sob! :( I hope number 3 has something better to offer.

I bought this game for the first time in 2004, I don’t even remember how many times I have finished it, and I have even tried all factions at the same time, this way I got access to all of the quests and items specific to each faction. What a master piece. Finally I got the steam version up and running, here I go again Khorinis!!!

Sadly I still keep on seen reviews complaining about the graphics, really? Apparently many gamers is all they care about, graphics; even if the game itself is a piece of crap or a senseless empty shell. I don’t know about the other fans but even the rustic graphics on Gothic 2 were just perfect for the environment in the game. A good example, what happened with gothic 3? Boy! What a rip off, I paid 50 dollars back then and I think I still regret it. What was the point on improving the graphics? Game all full of glitches, lost most of its essence it didn’t even feel like gothic anymore, it was a completely different game, not mentioning the brutally high specs for the time. That proves my point, yeah nice graphics 8/10 but 2/10 about the game itself, if I wanted to play and kill stuff for no reason in a beautiful landscape I would have played Halo on instead.

At least for me a good game is the one that catches your attention completely, makes you feel it, gets you involved, and Gothic 1 and 2 are a great example of it, actually this game helped me define my path as a gamer, since Gothic 2 I became a big fan of role playing games.

Highly recommended game 29.5 / 10 indeed ;) LONG LIFE TO GOTHIC 2 AND THE NAMELESS HERO!!!!

Well I think that one of my favorite RPG game devs is Piranha Bytes, since Gothic series I have been playing all of their releases (Gothic series and Risen).
Risen 2 is a bit different from the others is purely based on pirate adventures, but still keeps the essence from its predecessors, for example look and feel, exploring the world and always finding nice surprises, these little details are the ones that make you feel the game, not like many others just empty building shells, lifeless landscapes, etc.
I dont understand why so many people complain about the pirate thing, I mean if they know about Piranha Bytes work they would know that the pirate touch has been present since Gothic, so I'm ok with it.

In conclusion I would give the game 9/10 it is really a fun game and ok storyline, combat mechanics are not too bad, beautiful landscapes, only thing I didnt like is the lack of variety for outfits, it has plenty of weapons, fairly balanced by the way, eventhough they seem to have high specs they are not too OP, so you still get to enjoy part of the fights.

Well if you are looking to kill some time with a different RPG game I would suggest Risen 2 Dark Waters ;)

A mind blowing game, a game where high level means NOTHING at all, only those with true skill survive (some times), a game where every mistake has its consecuences (getting your butt kicked to be exact), a game where the words OP only apply for the enemies u fight, a game that will make u feel like every single victory achieved u trully deserve it. So if u r a hardcore gamer and looking for more than an easy win, then go to dark souls.
