Early Access Review
Easily my game of the year.

I have played a lot of MOBAs and battle royales, and this one builds upon all of them into something unique and incredible. My wife and I played a lot during the Alpha and have had a blast watching this game grow with such care and dedication on the part of the developers. They even took the time to reach back out after we provided feedback - not because they had to, but because they wanted to.

There are a variety of cool and complex mechanics that make every game unique and fun. The movement is super fluid and it is really easy to play this game without getting burned out after a match or two.

This game has such a bright future ahead of it, but it is already one of the best multiplayer experiences you can have on the market today.

Now please give Hudson a skin I'm BEGGING

Really solid experience so far, huge fan of ATS and space games so this was the perfect game for me setting/gameplay-wise. If you like Hardspace: Shipbreaker this gives a similar feel too, especially with the music. Very immersive.

Personally a fan of the controls as they are, and more than anything excited to see what continue to come in the future from this studio. Really impressive work for only two folks to put this out.

Easy 8.9/10 right now based on first impressions - will update after getting further.

People can complain all they want about Creative Assembly and whatever gripes they have with the game otherwise, but at the end of the day your choice to play the game is yours to make. My recommendation would be to ignore most of the review bomb posts.

Game has very strong mechanics and is the best Total War I've played. If you were a fan of Total War: Rome or Shogun II, you'll be a big fan of the additions they've made to the game with this fantasy setting. If you can put up with having to spend the fat stack it takes to play the full Immortal Empires campaign map and get the DLCs, there is a staggering amount of of content you can play through and enjoy. That in mind, you pay for what you get - even if the game would be better without so much content locked behind a paywall.

Don't let the negative comments fool you--most of the opinions expressed in them are hyper specific complaints people made because they enjoy being contrarian and putting down the best thing that could have happened for Yu-Gi-Oh! in recent memory.

Instead, play the game yourself. It's free to try, and if you don't like it you don't have to spend any money on it. If you enjoy it, great! Take that with the caveat that to build the decks you want, inevitably you will need to purchase gems to try at the packs you like to get the cards you want.

That said, this is much easier to get into and build decks in than the actual card game. The card market for any trading card game, and particularly Yu-Gi-Oh!, is notorious for competitively meta and good cards being barred from you unless you have $30-$80+ to spend per copy. Not to mention the endless stress of ordering cards to be delivered to you from online that you're lucky if only a handful get lost in the mail. You can also compete in tournaments and play with people without the often toxic environment of a local community that may be insular (or maybe you're just an introvert--this game caters to that too).

If you're getting back into the game after a prolonged hiatus, the tutorial and solo mode does a pretty decent job of showing you the ropes for all of the summoning methods and intrinsics of a game that has really grown in complexity since the early days of the game. Just be willing to learn the format and learn as you go beyond just what the game explicitly says you're able to do. Learn a trick with Megaliths you really like from playing with them in solo mode? Build a deck around them by pulling from a secret pack that contains them as well as a slew of other ritual monsters and bulk cards to bolster your virtual collection.

Overall, it's a great launch for a game that couldn't have had more anxiously awaiting fans to get their hands on it. If you're looking for a wonderful way to not only have the best simulator experience possible for playing Yu-Gi-Oh! at home as well as support Konami and the card game as a whole, dive in to everything this game offers.

See you at the card table, duelists!

This game is as much a hallmark of medieval sims and grand strategy as Stellaris is for grand strategy and 4X. Play this if you never play any other game again in your life. Practically endless replayability and a ton of scrumptious events, with a positive future in great DLC and free updates. I implore you: play. this. game.
