If you enjoy games of dice, where despite your best efforts things can still go hilariously awry in profound ways, if you have a love of satire, and you enjoy strategy/teambuilding games then this could be for you.

The games has its flaws, but if you can find a good friendly league to join it can be very very fun. Don't get me wrong that requires some get up and go on your part, you have to go find one to join to join, they advertise themselves on the blood bowl forums etc. However as far as learning the game beyond reading the rules, I would suggest creating your own online league with 6 teams, and make them all AI but you and set the league to permanently go on. This will give you some experience playing in a league (albeit without the human interaction that makes it so random and fun) to learn to play and how some things work and are handled.

All in all its the best video game adaptation of Blood Bowl to date and I have loved it for years.
