Classic Lego game, perhaps a little bit more frivolous with some of it's tongue-in-cheek but still highly enjoyable.
A collect-em-all's wet dream.

Just like the first game this is actually quite good... from what I've been able to play.

The game suffers from frequent seemingly random crashes. Sometimes after 10 minutes, sometimes after an hour and a half of playtime.
Sometimes the graphics will glitch and sometimes you'll find that the brightness will not adjust and so you'll be left squinting in the dark.

I can't believe I'm about to say this, but you'll probably enjoy this more if you can play it on a console, because I BET that was what this was optimised for.

I cannot in my right mind, recommend a game (no matter how good it is) that "runs" in this state. I use quotations because sometimes this game just will not run.

Now that I've also completed the game, the plot kind of just fizzles out. Rather disappointing in that regard.
Do I still give it a firm "NO", absolutely. Unless it somehow magically fixed itself of all its major bug crashes nothing could change that verdict.

I think I'd recommend it but only on 2 conditions.
1. it's more than 70% off. This game is old now and there are far better games out there.
2. You like Stephen King, if he grates you this game will too.

Some things which are great:
The general atmosphere of the game is good.
The plot is alright (maybe not great), it has its good moments just as any game does.

Some things which are poor
Saves before cutscenes / poor save / game design.
Games have grown up so much since this first came out that we've thankfully forgotten things like this existed.

A classic Lego game, absolutely worth it! A must get!

A thoroughly bizzare, intruiging, mesmerising horror point and click reminicient of older games in the genre.
This charming 12 hour ish game is well worth it and is good for at least a second play through.

I mean it's a Lego game, they are great downtime and are great for replayability.
I would absolutley recommend it.

I dont know if I've just burned out of this series but there is something of the simplicity of the first CSD that is missing from this one.
Everything just seems a bit complex and there is a bit too much. In the first one things built up, got tougher and then you found yourself at the apex naturally. In this one it seems that you're already supposed to be the master chef and everything is just on your plate already.

I dont know if I am missing something that would mean that there is a natural progression in the game but at this point I feel overwhelmed and I dont like it. I may persist, I may not. At the moment there are many other games I'd rather play,

Now that I've played this for a little bit longer, I feel that the game is actually quite narrow in basis and once you've got a large city which pretty much feeds itself, there isn't much to add to it.

There is a multitude of DLCs which says to me that all the extra ideas came too late for the base game and that is a shame because the base game by itself is pretty limiting. On a sale, is good for a few hours, but in order to get a lot out of it, I feel that there would have to be a lot of DLC purchased

Great game. Fantastic Mods collection. Superb interface makes this game everything a successor to Sim City 2000 needed. If you like city management, fine tuning and slow gameplay, this is it.

Some nice enhancements from the 2013 version. Ability to queue past upgrades, some good graphical updates, all expansions in one go. I will admit, I was skeptical until I tried it and actually, I think this is going to be my go to version now.

Edit: So I've played this a lot more now and I still recommend it wholeheartedly. I will jsut say this though. I think that the campaigns and historical battles are the weakest part of it. In some cases they are buggy and dont load as they should. Sometimes they're just not too interesting. The best campaigns are still the Age of Kings and the Conquerors campaigns.

Still a great game, still totally worth it.

Great game, led the way for things to come in Arkham City.
Challenges are an added bonus and are quite difficult.
Story is great with lots of extra stuff for those of who you like added story in with your plot.
Combat mechanics are beautiful, hard to come back to if you played the later games but these are quality.
Well worth it especially the GOTY Edition.
