This review has been revised since its original negative review at ~1000 hours played

While the many DLC is rather pricey for this game, EU4 (even stand-alone without DLC) offers an exceptional experience to players. I quite like this game, and the 1000+ hours played should (hopefully) indicate just that.

I applaud the continued development shown to the game over the years; its considerably improved since its earlier versions long ago. And the fun that has captured my attention for many a day still shines in its various forms. A few highlights:

- Bringing the Byzantine Roman Empire back from the brink, stretching in 1821 from Sevilla to India
- Turning Russia into the French King's personal estate
- Stamping out many cultures in the name of my nation's own cultural supremacy
- Becoming the most valuable ally by literally doing nothing in allied wars
- Painting the New World in various wonderful colors
- Initiating a hostile takeover of the Catholic Church by the Pope so that the Pope will forever have absolute power
- Dismantling the Holy Roman Empire way too many times
- Crushing peasant revolts in ways that make the German Peasants War a day in the park
- Starting literal world wars that would make Napoleon sue for peace
- Crushing liberal revolutionaries so my Monarchy could have absolutism
- Crushing absolutist monarchies in the name of a liberal merchant republic

This game is really something. I am ready for another 1000 hours.
