Without a single doubt, this is the scariest game I've ever experienced. Instead of cheap jump scares, Amnesia messes with your brain, making you think things are there when they aren't, and you dread opening every door...

Amnesia is a standard survival-horror game, in terms of it's gameplay. You've got your inventory, your lantern, your health and sanity meters, your journal, et cetera. However, Amnesia truly shines in its story aspect, having a deep and well-written story that needs to be experienced first-hand. And for once, a game actually has pacing, unlike many "Triple-A" games whose developers assume you'll fall asleep within five minutes if something hasn't already exploded. Instead, it builds up the tension, and by the time you even get to see a monster, you're an absolute nervous wreck. And that's good.

If you are a fan of survival horror, I suggest you buy this game.
