My experience with Cyberpunk 2077 took place in patch 1.6 and within the timeframe of 3 weeks.

And I gotta say it was an amazing experience. I took my time and 100% the game before writing a review as I wanted to explore everything the game had to offer , so my review had a firm grasp on the game's strengths and shortcomings.

Performance and Stability
Right off the bat I want to tackle what is maybe the most polarizing thing surrounding this game which is its horrible launch state, filled with bugs and performance issues, I bought this game a while back but didn't get around to play it due to its terrible initial reception. After watching Edgerunners and Upgrading my computer I thought I'd give it a go and boy was I in for a treat. The game runs like a dream with settings on ultra , that is until you turn the Ray Tracing up, my pc was up to the task however and got a 58 ish to 65 fps experience with everything maxed and a 1440p resolution using DLSS. I did have to overclock a bit which caused a bit of instability on my game but that is par for the course when in RT titles. Once tuned I didn't crash that much at all.

As for bugs , the game has patched a lot of really undesirable bugs , but my run wasn't bug free, there were misplaced animations , clipping but nothing game-breaking or frustrating. I think that the bug that annoyed me the most were some pop up messages that didn't clear from my HUD until I quick-saved and reloaded said save. There was one mayor bug in the side mission "The Beast in Me" that made the quest just a joke, cars would randomly explode and respawn under or near me which would cause my car to catapult into orbit , but it made for a very comical situation.

Overall the game isn't perfect but that is to expect from a game of this size with such a small team helming it, I do think this problem could be curved by giving the now revived modding community , tools to tackle the smaller bugs, I know this isn't the way it should be but for me it sounds like a achievable solution.

The Story and Atmosphere

The story of cyberpunk 2077 follows V , which depending on your choice of lifepath in character creation could start as :

A Streetkid: Someone who grew on the streets of Night City, knows the city like the back of their hand, the relations between gangs and the mayor players and their territories, this does come up during the story but isn't game defining.

A Corpo: A person that has risen through the ranks of the Corporations that govern Night City, Corpos bend rules, exploit others and weaponize information, all in service to become more and more influential and gain power.

A Nomad: Nomads are part of a clan, a family of sorts, that roam the Badlands deserts around Night City. They value their family above anything, they used to be farmers and people that lived in the offskirts of the metropolis, until their lands were taken from them.

Although this 3 paths are very unique they all funnel into the main storyline smoothly, this comes with the con of them not feeling unique enough. But I find that it works in favor of the game , because the storyline that is there is really polished and snaring if you are willing to get immersed in this world full of detail.

The story itself is great as it starts with a tried and tested hook of a heist gone wrong, and for the rest of the game you have to deal with the consequences in order to be the one that ends up on top.

For my longest save file I chose the streetkid path as Female V so my experience comes from it.
The characters with whom you interact along the story are what makes this narrative work, and what reeled me in for so many hours. They are written like real people and have tangible desires and emotions. Even some of the off shoot supporting characters are charming and memorable.

My favorite part about this game is the setting and atmosphere that was created around the already interesting and impressively voice acted main and supporting cast of characters. The city is colorful and beautiful in some parts, poverty stricken and gang overtaken in others and it all seems to fit perfectly. Granted I did play the game with some mods, that made my experience better, mainly some visual reshade with TRUE HDR and more lively crowds , and a couple mods that fixed some lighting issues, but they are all free and easy to install.

The city felt bustling and lively, and walking around felt like a treat , I would constantly choose to run , walk or use my bike to traverse through the map rather than using the fast travel system because there are a lot of random encounters and things I would otherwise miss on.

The vocabulary characters use also contributes a lot to the feeling of authenticity, words like choom, input , gonk and so on feel organic and real.

Gameplay and Progression

Finally I would like to talk about the gameplay loop and the progression system.

Pros:
- Shooting and Slashing feels great
- Guns feel unique
- Stealth feels rewarding
- Hacking is really c00l
- Many ways to tackle combat
- Perks do have impact.
- Cyberware is amazing and gives the game another layer in combat.
- Ultimate Power Fantasy
Cons:
- You get very strong very fast
- Some builds make the game very easy
- Even the hardest difficulty isn't hard
- FInal Boss is underwhelming
-Crafting System is kinda meh.
-Big Discrepancy in Perk quality and creativity.

I feel the game needs to address some of these issues to make it a more rewarding experience.

Overall I enjoyed my time with this game a lot and would recommend it to anyone looking for an immersive experience, I do wholeheartedly wish for this game to go the Skyrim route and for it to get even better with the community's Input.

9/10 will play it again once dlc releases.

The final of the bunch
My last review of the Banner Saga:

The conclusion is upon us, and the game delieverd and exceeded any expectations I had , that a boon due to just the massive amount of stakes, world and character building , choice consideration , the game had to make as to not feel disingenuous or cheap to the players that started from the first two games. The game delivers both in story and gameplay innovation once more building upon the previous games.

Story:
This game made me double guess my self over and over , analyze to try and see the ramifications of my words prior to uttering them , drawing routes in my mind , all this to survive through the harsh lands of the world in search for a way to stop it from ending. The story welcomes a lot of new stuff that I didn't expect, from dropping the traveling early on from one caravan, to the time constraints that dictate who lives and who dies on this apocalypse, to the way they make you feel that every single tiny choice throughout the 3 games had some weight to it. This game delivers in spades. The story itself has like 5 endings or so , but each one of them takes also into consideration the lives of the lost.

Gameplay
A few new things were added , like more objective based combat, wave combat when facing the new threat, reinforcements , lightning call, nothing to ambitious , but it was the right choice as to not off put veteran players.

This time around I really felt the wounds mounting on some of the later parts of the game and it was really challenging to overcome , especially in my first run that I made Iron-man style ( no save-scumming , no losing in combat ever). On the last chapter , I was tempted to reload a save , but I couldn't with how far I had gotten.

Story

The story itself has a lot of common themes with the past ones , except that this one explores more the relationships one forms , be it loved ones, the people that depend on you, comrades, allies and friends.

They also talk more about the nature of life and forgiving, while exploring the more soft side of the dredge.

There are some very emotional moments in the game , in various routes of the story I felt there was something for each one that made it worth exploring.

Overall , I think this game is the conclusion this saga deserves , there is no other series of games that tell a story of epic proportions as masterfully as the Banner Saga, and ultimately it will live as one of my favorite game series of all time. As I finish writing this , I urge you to try out the whole series rather than starting from this one, to live , to grieve, to fail , to conquer , all that this world has to give, to write those experiences you and your clan lived while travelling on the road away from certain damnation.

This is the second part to my review of The Banner Saga

The game actually changes a lot of small stuff but its all for the better, this game starts right where we left off, and frantically tells a tale of survival , of adapting, of leading, of growing, and of sorrow, the story explored in part two is full of mystery and a sense of dread, really compelling new additions to the cast as well of good character growth and interactions with the core cast, help tell it in a very organic non disruptive way.

The gameplay changes are all for the better with the additions of obstacles, more enemy variety and hero variety, leaner aesthetics and cool new game mechanics and abilities.

I like a lot part two , it has really good pacing and once I finished it , it made me want to play the third installment immediately.

There are a few thing however that could have used some love, however most of this are due to the budget constraints probably:

-More character animations would've been great.
-I really would have loved and would pay for a voice over dlc, that included all the lines voice acted by the characters.
- More models or visual aids to present some parts of the story.

Apart from that the game doesn't drop the ball or anything of the sort, it still is a marvelous experience , and they let you carry over your progress from the first game. So that s a huge plus in my book.

Im writing this review as I finished the 3rd Game in the series , and I have to say this is an amazing story of epic proportions, in which your choices do matter, and to top it off an actual gameplay loop that doesn't consist on "quick time events" or "mashing a" to beat a tense situation.

Though I would like to write a review of the complete saga , I will talk of each game in its own standing as they are sold separately.

The Banner Saga tells the story of a world where its creators or gods died and with them the movement of the sun. Many of the humans in this world don't even know of the night sky , however they aren't the only inhabitants of the world as there are 3 more races , the varl , giants who live for who knows how long and live for the honor and glory of the battlefield, however this doesn't mean they are just big muscly dumb guys , varl tend to also be introspective and hold a very defined moral compass that they have carved through experiencing centuries of life. The dredge , a monstrous race that forced humans and varl to coexist due to their overwheling strength. And the maybe real or fake race that is the horseborn , though no one has seen one in centuries.

With this written you can see that the story telling is amazing , and the worldbuilding is presented in the dialogue and also the world map, which includes short paragraphs of the important landmarks of the continent.

The way the story is presented is through a couple of main characters that travel the world in search of safety and answers.

Gameplay

Gameplay is divided in two distinct gameplay loops , the caravan travel and combat.

The caravan travel consists of traveling over the world with beautiful scenic backgrounds that illustrate all this land has to show from enormous snow covered mountains , to lush green forests , and the salty marine coast.
Gameplay here is mostly reading and picking from choices presented from events that happen on your journey. Apart from random circumstances you also meet new people , trade in cities, organize armies and so much more, the text is also accompanied sometimes with very evocative sound design that makes you feel as if you were watching it live. It did wonders for my immersion. Most of the choices have permanent effects on your clan and heroes , this is what makes the game have huge stakes and what reeled me in , made me felt as if it really was me making the choices and made me consider the options carefully, it was so immersive that at times I reacted as if I was also running out of time and making really fast choices .

Combat on the other hand is a strategy game kinda layout, where you have a board , with the important characters in your Clan often referred as heroes . Your heroes are unique, as in , they have their own story, goals , interactions , and abilities. No two heroes are alike though some have a overlap due to the game having characters die off in some parts of the story , this is totally decided by your choices and the circumstances in which you navigate.

Though placement dependant turn based combat is nothing revolutionary , Stoic made theirs with a few new things , like :

Strength and Armor:

In this game your strength is the health of the unit AND the damage they get to deal with attacks. So trying to not get hit is the name of the game, a thing I didn't like is that this means that its a death spiral and losing early on makes you lose more later , both in combat and later sections of the game.

Armor is the only thing that prevents this from being a total masochist fest as your armor diminishes damage taken by the number of armor vs the enemy's strength.

Units can either attack armor or strength depending on the situation.
Attacking strength weakens them and getting the enemies strength to zero is the overall goal.
However, attacking the armor makes it so future attacks deal more damage and/or have a better chance at landing.

I think this could be improved on with more ability variety and a slight tuning to the scaling curve.

Willpower and Exertion:

Willpower and Exertion are the other mechanic this game has, willpower is the force that lets your units give their 120% so to speak , it makes them faster , stronger , have more effective abilities, etc. Willpower generates on resting and with good morale management. Exertion is the number of willpower points you can use in an action at a time.

Overall, I think is a really solid game to start an amazing saga .

With 70 Hours in this game , Im happy to say that Riot Forge and Airship Syndicate delivered an amazing and enthralling experience. Im a huge league fan so there is some bias towards this game , however seeing runeterra explored in this way is super refreshing. Another thing that I think is worth saying is that I like my turn based combat tactical and intense which on my first playthrough I found lacking as I played on veteran but on my heroic difficulty it was more of a challenge.

Pros

+Lore in this game is top-notch.
+Artstyle is amazing and really close to the Riot games aesthetic.
+Exploration is fun
+Combat on the higher difficulties is quite entretaining.
+There are side missions.
+Love the team dynamics.
+Combat timeline and lanes system are something I haven't seen anywhere together.
+ Champ ability and rune system is really in depth and engaging when trying to min-max.
+Love the ultimate system, however some ults are plain just better use of the ultimate meter.
+Amazing voice acting and direction.
+Story fixes a lot of the points in the Ruination.
Cons
-Combat may get repetitive on lower dificulties.
-Dislike having to select a party, when some characters have the same roles but do it better.
- Having to backtrack all the way back to a resting point to select another character to use thier dungeon ability is a huge drag.
- Sidemissions are really important to get endgame loot ,so they are more or less not that optional.
- Fishing minigame is kinda not that cool because its based on how good is your gear.
-The xp bug.
- Lack of build diversity team wise and item wise. As loot is leveled and unique to that level tier.

Overall , it was an amazing experience through and through , there was however some stuff that could,ve been better. Making 2 separate parties or dividing our six heroes to complete 2 separate goals would have been great , doing it various times to see the individual relationships bloom or making the combat fit a bigger party. Barks for npc were really bad and took me out of the game.

Finally there were some scenes where I didn't get why they weren't voiced, and they were part of the main story. A little more polishing in the rewards and loot available. But altogether a great debut for the league of legends universe into a singleplayer space.

8/10 would spend 2 hours getting a legendary weapon.
