Armored Core meets Earth Defense Force in a crossover I never knew I needed. Ton of weapons and fun blowing through mobs of enemies. The controls are fine once you get used too them and other comments of "jank" can be solved by turning up your mouse sensitivity and upgrading your mech's movement. The story was decent for what it was and the characters were all corny in best ways that reminds me of early 2000's games. Gunplay starts off underwheling with many weapons feeling like peashooters but as you progress they really ramp up and by the end all your weapons are crazy powerful WMD's, I really did feel a sense of progression when it came too combat. However weapon drops are random per misson and I imagine Im missing a bunch of ones I never got too try. Also the enemy variety is great! Most horde shooters have a good handful of different baddies but the dev pulled out all the stops with a dozen or more types of baddies that cover all ranges of combat, with some of the long ranged types hitting quite hard and having you bob and weave around the melee hordes to take them out as priority. I felt the difficulty was pretty balanced with just a couple out of place moments notably, the final boss seems weaker than other minibosses encountered earlier, and the long range laser enemies are huge bullet sponges able too swiss cheese your mech in seconds. As others have said the game does end quite suddenly. You fight a two part misson in the end that felt quite a bit easier compared too previous ones, your guy gives a little speech about how he's proud but its not over yet and then it just ends no congrats, or more coming soon. In 6 hours I beat the entire story but endless horde mode fills the gap of players who want too keep going and level their mechs too the max. For a One man development this is top tier stuff and I can't wait too see him do more! Interested if vehicular combat will ever be expanded upon like in the first misson and battles in other biomes would be the next big step. Keep a eye on this dev he knows what the people want, and thats more mecha blasting goodness.

A absolute gem of a game and the best $8 I have spent. Its not CoD, it's not Battlefield, it is its own beast. The best way I can describe it is Star Wars battlefront 2 (2005) as a WWII shooter. Though a bit more hardcore as it has many "simulation" elements, like tank armor deflecting shots, calling in artillery and actually putting in the coordinates, and weapon swaying, and very quick ttk. your not going too be sprinting through the warzone getting headshot killstreaks, you gotta crouch, breathe and line up those shots. This game has INSANE potential, and with its map maker dare I same limitless? It needs a bit of ironing out in certain places but its a experience I can't say I've had in any other shooter. Do yourself a favor and give it a whirl.

Found this one day on a whim, hearing its a spiritual successor to Total Annihilation. For a free game theres a ton of unit variety and loads of maps. However with so many units its one of the most unbalanced experiences I've ever played. Certain units are just better in every way compared to others and the AI will abuse the everloving S**T out of them. I do not understand how in 2021 there is still not a competent AI that can be fair. On Easy the AI stands around and does nothing but on normal it builds like a madman, creating and spamming the best units and surrounding its superheavies in healer to create unstoppable death balls. Not only that but it has full awareness to you at all times, constantly kiting and avoiding your units so it can swoop around and destroy all your buildings for you to rebuild again and again. The multiplayer side is also one of the most toxic ive seen. Clans rule the chat and will denounce you for simply not playing the way they prefer. Going out of their way to screw over and complain about newbies. Zero-K has so much more variety than most RTS's but its completely ruined into being a unbalanced, spamming, rude mess. Till the devs address these issues, I can not recommend this to anyone but the potential is there to be a great game.

Okay so here we go. Fallout 4 on the outside looks great, with slick animations, graphics and deep weapon customization. I really wanted to give this game a chance and experience everything there was possible with it before passing judgement. With almost 300 hours in it I cannot recommend it over 3 or New Vegas it is a blemish on the Fallout series. But here me out, Its a perfectly fine AAA game however its a terrible Fallout game. The story rips all immersion from the player, and choices don't matter when you have to be either nice or sarcastic nice. There is NO Rpg elements here. Your skills do not matter, your actions do not matter, npcs do not react. When you take down the boogeymen and stroll back into diamond city triumphant npcs do not care. Loot and Shoot is the name of the game and it does that quite well. Gunplay is great with tons of stuff to collect and customize. But after you've made a laser sniper that kills anything in one hit. Whats the point? Having your character speak in a horrible decision as you cant control how they react. Talking about raiders? Yeah they're scum no ifs ands or buts. In previous titles you could choose your side, be a raider, or a Enclave purist cleanse the wasteland or bleed it dry. What im trying to get at is After 290 hours in this game with around 50 of those hours modding it to make it more of an actual Rpg. Its just not worth it when New Vegas, 3, 2, 1, and Tactics offer your so much more in everyway except graphics. Do yourself a favor and retake a trip down the strip or stop by the citadel and you'll start to realize what Im rambling about.

So wow in no way can I recommmend this game. After playing the first Sword Of The Stars for quite a few hours I can see right away that this game does not live up to the original. An over complicated mess of a UI with some awful gameplay mechanics make this not even remotely fun to play. Menus drop down more menus and then even more after that all for a simple action like exploring a planet. Don't even get me started on the combat. OG Sword of the Stars has always had slow paced tactical combat but this...this...theres just so many odd design choices. Yeah having diffrent planes to fight on is neat but honestly makes no diffrence. Once again the UI is awful and so spread out that you don't know where to find the right button on the screen because there all over the place. SOTS 1 Had all your tactics and manuevers in a neat little bar on the right hand side, simple and clean. I suppose if you spent hours learning where everything is and click through the insane amount of menus that you could get through a turn relativly quicky but is that honestly fun having to work so much for a game that isn't enjoyable to play or navigate at all? If you want a TRUE 4x space sim go with the Original Sword of the Stars. The graphics may be dated but eveything else is still top notch, and hey maybe you like retro art and ships like me so the graphics actually encourage you to build new ships and see how many cheesy phaser esqu guns you can slap on a ship. Long review short. Sword of the Stars 1=VERY GUD Sword of the Stars 2=A Nightmare to play.

Didn't want to give in to the negativity of this game but unfortuantly its true. Awful leveling system, nigh invincible enemies, and bland flat dialogue make this one of the most unenjoyable games I've played in awhile. Such a shame too as the world and factions are intresting but ultimatly not worth the frustration you'll be having

Amazing back in 2005 and still amazing today. It's what EA Battlefront wishes it could be. Endless hours of instant action and mods have kept me enjoying it for literally years. It's "arcadey" in all the right ways while still maintaining the scope of the huge battle star wars is known for. If you never played it before, it's still 100% worth playing, there's a reason it was the best selling Star Wars game of all time.
