Early Access Review
A solid foundation with great visuals and solid core gameplay, but a number of current small issues in the way.

A lot of the burning issues have been already pointed out by others so instead here some issues I haven't seen mentioned.
- The wolf boss has an attack that I have no clue what the answer is supposed to be. It's the attack where it leaps forward and slams the ground putting a small circle under the player. I've tried everything parrying doesn't work, dodging is inconsistent at best, jumping doesn't work, and jump dodging doesn't work.
- I can understand unlocking characters being part of progression, but being able to actually pick the first character you want to play would feel a lot better. Their designs are all visually really cool and having them locked behind a pretty challenging first boss is a bit discouraging.
- Out of the available weapons the daggers feel very weak they do so little damage, don't build any statuses, have low range, and the payoff is fast attack speed. It doesn't feel worth it.
- Is there no way to reset the map other than dying enough times to run out of resets? I haven't found any other way to get golden rations which are needed for upgrades.

Despite everything I've had fun with it so far, and see a lot of potential in this game.

Possibly the worst game I have ever played. Godfall is barren of anything that could possibly illicit joy. A truly awful unrelentingly miserable experience.

Let's start with the gameplay. In short it's awful. In depth it takes every idea it has from the recent God of War games (a shield for blocking and parrying, a short step dodge that when double tapped becomes a roll, generic light and heavy attack with minimal combo routing, powerful abilities on short cooldowns). The system used in those new God of War games was already misguided and clumsy especially with enemies surrounding the player and the indicator for an attack coming from behind being imprecise, but Godfall takes it steps further into being awful with it's unique yet horrible idea to have attacks cause the player to stumble and fall on their back. This will result in the player dealing with a brief animation if stumbled from ground slamming shockwave type attacks or agonizingly slowly standing back up if knocked on their back. The end result combat devolves into trying to interact with enemies as little as possible on higher difficulties taking brief moments to take the occasional single attack and use the invincible attacks that are on cooldown. Truly ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ awful.

The story is agonizing and refuses to even provide the courtesy of being skipable. You must watch as each generic npc boredly mumbles out their lines in the hub. Every second wasted on it is agonizing.

The game runs fine for what it is. The artstyle is ♥♥♥♥ ugly though a cobbled together mess of fantasy armor designs with glowing neon components, and an eye assault of particle effects making the sloppy combat completely unreadable.

Your time and money would be better spent watching paint dry.

Put in a raid/world boss like the slime diva but harder and intended to fight as a group and the game is perfect for now.

A really well executed soulslike that brings enough new to the formula while only suffering minor stumbles.

This game has a surprisingly strong grasp on what makes a soulslike so enjoyable to play. The strong mix of defensive and offensive mechanics, the level design that encourages and rewards exploration, and the solid variety of enemy design to keep the simple yet effective combat engaging all mix really well to make this game stand apart from other weaker entries into the genre. The unique setting of being underwater and playing as a hermit crab feed really well back into the gameplay mechanics rather than just feeling like a cheap gimmick. The writing is solid and while left a little to be desired as far as closure kept me engaged enough to actually read the portions that weren't voice acted. My only real complaint lies in my subjective opinion that the game is too easy which really doesnt feel fair as this being my favorite genre of games has led me to developing a significant understanding of them. That said no boss took me even into the double digits of attempts and most of the late game bosses I beat in a single try.

Overall a great game that is worth your time and money. 8/10

The stronger enemies just aren't fun to interact with. They are absurdly tanky, and I feel like I just don't have the tools to deal with them. Strong example is the enemy with the gas tank on his back. Shooting it will knock the enemy down, but this doesn't kill the enemy and you can't even pick the enemy up so you still have to dump ammo into them to be able to even pick them up. I understand the decision behind the stamina as well, but the stamina without getting a kill feels very low and limited. For a game which seems to be trying to sell itself on a power fantasy I feel pathetically weak.

STRONG first impressions.
Needs a little bit of ironing out and some more obstacles and surprises to the content and it will be a great game. Really solid foundations here.

A solid roguelite boomer shooter.

The real selling points of this game is how good the idea of mixing those two genres is, and the unique lewd art style and presentation. The mechanics aren't overly deep, but that allows the game to be simple casual fun. The weapons are well balanced aside from the ones clearly designed to be jokes such as the rusty rifle, flare gun, etc. The upgrade stores do a good job of helping your weapons feel more powerful, but I do wish there were more options and more decision making to those upgrades. The enemies and bosses while challenging when you don't know what they do quickly become easy to deal with once you understand the game (I do wish the bosses had a bit more health and slightly better AI to make them more of a challenge). The story is charming enough if you are willing to pay attention to it, but if you aren't interested entirely skipable. The audio mixing by default is pretty bad (guns are insanely loud and you can barely hear the voices of enemies and the MC). Overall a fun casual experience. 7/10

The most stank anticheat ever packaged with a mid as ♥♥♥♥ game. It's fun for a few rounds but lacks the depth and mechanics to be genuinely gripping. The balance is complete dog ass with primaries and secondaries being comically terrible and anything remotely powerful having to be called in. It runs like ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ even on top of the line hardware because of just how horrid the kernel level anticheat is. Crashes regularly for the same reason. Survives purely on zoomer memeculture and buries it's head in the sand the second anyone mentions genuine flaws with it.

3/10 worth it if you are starved for anything of genuine quality.

A mostly good shooter with some annoying parts that weigh it down. The combat is immaculate and why this game receives the praise it does. The story is pretty straightforward and would have been better without dialogue. The level design can be needlessly confusing and the sections where you just jump around and don't fight anything are pretty boring. I wish that the weapons just came upgraded rather than having to do some mostly inconsequential or outright tedious challenge (this is bandaided by a currency you get in the late game to bypass the challenge). I personally don't really like shooters and yet found this to be pretty fun. Worth your time for at least one playthrough of it's campaign. 7/10
