you will THROW things. you will gnash your teeth and BEAT the nearest wall. then you'll pick up where you left off and succeed, barely scrape through. and it will be beautiful.

mature, dramatic storyline led by an embarassment of talented voice acting. beautiful hand-drawn backgrounds and fleshed out, well-written lore enriching each locale. fast paced, frenetic combat that rewards quick decision making. just a rich, nuanced experience proving that narratives in games don't have to be hamfisted or contrived.

roll a horned, electromagnetic marauder with a hardened carapace.
die to bloodthirsty salthoppers, a horrible mutation of big game.

roll a keen hearing, telepathic gunslinger with flaming hands.
die to a sentient, invisible plant with an axe (or thorn) to grind.

roll a gifted esper that emits a globe of light, then focuses said light into deadly beams.
die to an ancient, giant turtle, part of his caravan accidentally angered by stray missiles.

11/10 would dream up new ways of dying again.

it's just the greatest rpg of all time, in my book. any time I reconsider that statement, I play it again: yep. still the best.

charming game with challenging turn-based tactics. a little rough around the edges but still compelling, surprising and fun. a nice indie gem.

stayed out too long in the first battle and got my ass handed to me... yep, it's banner saga.

this game is awesome! like grimrock with a unique, meditative twist to the combat. a few hours in and I'm definitely hooked, and already thinking about what kind of party I'd use on a subsequent playthrough. great job devs, this one came out of nowhere for me. super pleased with the amount of quality RPGs coming out of tiny studios lately.

my theft just got witnessed by a small pup. 10/10 would let Leo the Dog snitch on me again.

very gritty and fun turn-based strategy. the branching tech tree and myriad customizations of my team kept my interest through the whole campaign. can't wait to start a new game+ and continue to train my team of badasses.
