I'd recommend this game for the art alone. it is really some of the nicest pixel art this side of the original masters of the 90s. the music is pretty great, too, and battles are generally fun if a bit too easy (use your brain and it's almost impossible to lose, even if you stumble into a tough battle with a fairly battered party). in this regard, there should probably be a difficulty level aimed at RPG veterans to really squeeze the juice from the admittedly fun battle system.

but be warned. this game has the emotional impact of a hardboiled egg and dialog that feels crowdsourced from seventh graders. and sometimes, the puzzles feel like those same seventh graders took level design tips from fourth graders. if you're willing to look past all that, it's a fun and beautiful ride. but it does beg the question of why devs who are clearly loving and competent decided to lobotomize their game.

a worthy successor for bg1 & 2. the astute will know that's extremely high praise. likely the best crpg of the last 10 years.

cute, fun little FF-like that has a lot of freeform exploration. a nice brain relaxer.
