This game is a hidden gem and an example of simple mechanics done well. I played through twice and still didn't find everything. Very worth it's price if you want a casual rpg experience.

Still didn't beat it though because the church are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

The game starts by establishing the personal conflict of two divine brothers and the reluctance of the youngest to fulfil his impending divine duty, then you beat up monkeys with a stick, would recommend

Felt the need to review because the recent reviews are quite harsh and kinda undeserved.

The game is not nearly as buggy as I was expecting going in. Apart from an issue where I couldn't open my inventory which went away after a simple relaunch, I haven't had any other issues playing since hotfix #2

The game itself is otherwise as advertised - you run a farm in a small town, with the option to add slime to your plants to turn them into planimals. Each crop has a variety of planimals that it can produce depending on what slime you use - battle planimals, mounts, and barn planimals that produce unique farm products to be sold or refined.

The gameplay loop takes place over two daily stages - day time where you manage your farm tasks and interact with the local shops etc, and evening, where you get the option to fight your way through the dungeon with your planimals to collect loot and level up your planimals. Dungeons are randomly generated, featuring a boss at the end of each level and higher level enemies the further you progress.

Turn based combat is simple but usually brief - with the main focus being on managing your party throughout the dungeon, given that as yet I have found no way to heal planimals in the middle of the dungeon. If a planimal falls to zero HP - its permadeath, however each time a planimal dies it gives you a resource that increases the base level of planimals grown on your farm, so its not a complete loss.

Unlike Stardew there is no ticking clock mechanic - you progress to the next stage of the day whenever you are ready, however you do have an energy meter that will limit how much you can do in a day. A frequent complaint I have seen in reviews is that the energy pool is too small, but after gaining some levels and upgrading the efficiency of your tools (you know, progression) it really isnt a huge deal.

The only criticism I have is that not all of the mechanics really compliment each other. For example you can obtain a fishing rod and catch fish, which can then be either sold or used in recipes - but none of that at any point has any impact on your planimals. (besides arguably consuming meals for additional energy). Building relationships with townspeople seems almost pointless, besides shopkeeper discounts, and you can only battle planimals against town NPCs on Fridays at the community hall. This leaves a kind of disjointed feel to the game, but not enough to ruin my enjoyment of it.

The game in its current state is worth its price - is it on par with Stardew? No, but it manages to scratch the same itch while bringing its own uniqueness to the table, and with some more TLC from the developer, this could go from a good game to a great one.

Dicey Dungeons is a very good and unique roguelike that constantly has more to offer than you might expect, despite its simplistic facade.

You start with 5 characters, each with a truly unique playstyle, as they take on Lady Luck's dungeon gameshow. The odds are against you and RNGesus has forsaken you. Still, with wits, strategy, and the occasional moment of pure dumb luck, you can overcome the odds.

Armed with a handful of dice and whatever equipment you pick up along the way, DD relies on finding different ways to creatively use RNG in your favour. Each turn you roll your dice and then use them to activate equipment - but which dice will you spend where? Will you focus on raw damage output, shielding yourself, or overwhelming the enemy with status effects? It's up to you to get the most out of your rolls each turn, with the equipment that you're given.

However just as you start to get the hang of it, the game starts throwing curveballs. Each new episode brings new challenges, changing up rules and forcing you to adapt. You'll need to be creative and clever if you want to progress.

The solid gameplay is complimented by an underlying story - Five contestants enter the dungeon, looking to win their hearts desire, before slowly beginning to realise they've bitten off more than they can chew. Lady Luck's smug, antagonistic attitude begins to wear them down - but maybe there are minions who aren't too happy with the status quo either?

Without spoiling anything, the final episode is an absolute treat that serves as both an awesome payoff for the game's buildup, and a fittingly epic showdown, cementing Dicey Dungeons as easily one of my favourite games of all time.

I almost didn't buy this game because of all the reviews talking about bugs but I'm glad I did anyway, which is why I wanted to write this.

I was expecting a buggy early access mess but ended up being pleasantly surprised by how polished the game feels.

I encountered a couple minor bugs - storage numbers not updating properly and the game froze once but thats about it

The game plays like a typical farming sim, with crop management, NPC relationships and exploration, but with elements of games like rune factory (a personal fave) where you can tame the local monsters and sell items they produce. They can even evolve under the right conditions but I haven't managed that yet.

If you enjoy farming sims as much as I do and/or you're looking for something to tide you over til we finally get a release date for Rune Factory 5, this game is worth checking out

A really satisfying take on the survival/crafting genre by blending elements of other popular genres.

The devs are also super dedicated, pushing out patches every couple of days that have already fixed several major bugs.

Only tossers write lengthy steam reviews so here's a quick list of the reasons you should buy this game.

Playstyle is fluid: You get a bunch of abilities, four of which you can slot. The rest of your remaining abilities can be used to augment the slotted abilities, giving bonus effects or changing the ability altogether. You can swap them around, mix and match and change them as much as you want, to find a playstyle that suits you or just to experiment with new ways to play after every fight, keeping things fresh.

Art style is beautiful: The city looks amazing and intricate. The cutscenes are minimalistic but still amazingly illustrated. It's a very pretty game to look at.

Setting is cool: Futuristic, yet original. It's a city where everything is done by the numbers, to the point where even the sky is painted and the weather is voted on by the residents. It feels three dimensional.

Story is interesting: It's a game that tells you nothing, but leaves tidbits here and there for you to read so you can put together the bigger picture yourself. It's a little frustrating at times but it keeps you wanting more.

The music is incredible: When people hark on about a game soundtrack, I usually dismiss it. How memorable can some background music be? Transistor's answer: Phenominal. It fits the game and setting, and like the art style, experiencing it is an absolute pleasure. I've never heard a soundtrack like this before.

Short answer: Buy this game. It's bloody good.
