If your are using FRAPS, you have to run it in Winowed mode, otherwise it will lag even the beefiest CPU's. Under the MOVIES tab in FRAPS, look to the left for "video capturing" and set this to HALF-SIZE. The game should play better.

As for "playing bad" just go with your gut instinct - immediately. I am far from the best, but I can manage to break 30+ solo on most maps, and 50-100 with another Teammate from the MI group. When available, I am almost always willing to Ready Up for a game of MW3.
