I see a lot of reviews. both positive and negative, but all polarized to one side or another, and maybe that's because Steam makes it so that we either have to recommend or not recommend this game.
This is a good game.
This is a Fallout game; however, it is streamlined, and simplified to reach a larger audience.
Definitely worth the money, and every minute spent playing.

Woot.

Since there is not a 1-10 rating I chose to recommend this game, because it excelled in a lot of areas but didn't really pull through in some important ones. I won't focus on the graphics much, although they are pretty good.

First of all the gameplay was superb, the combat mechanics are polished and stealth feels natural, yet challenging, and the enemies are definitely not dumb. They seamlessly combined the environment and gameplay together, which create an ambient and believable post-apocalyptic Moscow. The atmosphere in this game is superb, and can suck your right in. It has a realistic and gritty feel, and will keep you entertained for hours on end.

Now for the things I feel were not adequate.
First is there is no tutorial. Now I can see how this could be viewed as a "No hand-holding" experience and that it adds to the immersion of the game. I don't think thats plausible. I spent half the game with a dimmed, ineffecitve flashlight because I did not know that there was a flashlight charger. Among other things, I really didn't feel like I had the mechanics down until the last few missions.
Next is the story. It was interesting, and hard to follow. I read most of the journal entries and didn't even know what the main plot was until the end. Also, the game really struggles with an identity: whethe it wants to be a realistic take on a post-nuclear Moscow, or a disoreintating, search for the meaning behind a supernatural occurance. It is hard to merge those two together; you break the realism and immersion in the game, and it can even be ridiculous to have the "Dark Ones" element tagged alongside a realistic shooter.
My final grudge is that you never really feel like Artyom. You never feel fully immersed to the point of "This is me, and I have to do this." This is not really a big issue because the game excels in the gameplay, and especially in the combat, you do feel like a Metro survivor fighting for your life.

All in all it is a great gameplay experience, with a superb atmosphere. It lacks in story, and how the story and atmosphere mix. That being said the game is definitely unique, and worth admission price.

Final Rating:
Overall: 7/10
Story: 3/10
Atmosphere: 9/10
Gameplay: 9/10
Mechanics: 8/10

I usually don't do many reviews, but I'm a big fan of the FPS Co-op genre, especially Killing Floor. I've had the first for a long while, and it is just absolutely amazing, This game is the perfect sequel. It doesn't have much content, but there will be a lot (Knowing Tripwire) to come in the future. The 30$ price tag may be intimidating, but it's definitely an essential.

Great gunplay, interesting enemies, beautiful graphics, nicely polished, and just like the first.
8/10.

Absolute Fun.

EDIT 5/23.15 BELOW:
I'm going to give a quick review about the game and my impressions so far. I heard a little about it about a year ago and found it on steam when the beta was first released. I bought it today and have played a fair amount. My impression is this:
It has glorious game mechanics. They are well polished and hit home with what they aimed for making with this game, and the developers did a good job to try and balance the game with the systems set in place. That being said the game is not without it's problems. The game feels incomplete, but I cannot hold this against the game or the devs because this is a beta. It has a few bugs (There is when that when you try to change the FOV with V-Sync on, it will keep an overlay of the previous screen while you play). Also, although this may be intentional, there isn't much upgrading or customization, or motivation to keep playing after you have a good merc. This can be fixed with some minor things, and I'm sure the Devs are already thinking about ways to expand. So here's the watered down version:

+Great Game Mechanics
+Well Polished Art Style
+Original Concept With Bits and Pieces of Other Games Mixed In
+Good Shop and Merc System (Like CS:GO Case opening)
+Well Thought Out Weapons (None feel like weak pea shooters)
+Fast Paced Competetive Gameplay
+Great Objectives
+Extremely Fun

-Game Optimization
-Feels Incomplete (Needs more content, such as customizeable weapons with some roulette system, or like TF2 hats)
-Bugs exist, but not prominently
-A few weapons need extra balancing

Overall, the game is on the right track, and could turn out to be a wonderfully fun experience. I can't hold any negatives against the game because it is in beta, but it does have it's issues.

Good Start. 7.8/10

EDIT:
I have played significantly more of this game in the past few weeks. My opinion has not changed much , although I do have more to add. The game is extremely fun, but also extremely competitive. It has a nature about it that subconsciously funnels your mind from casual to getting really into the game play. The mechanics, which I have stated previously, are absolutely glorious, and they are working hard to release new updates with more content for us to play. It is still on the right track, a lot of the bugs have been dealt with, along with many of the balancing issues. One thing I will say is that every time new content is added, there will be unbalance in one way or another. This would seem like a problem, but it really isn't, and this is why: They are prepared to turn right around and give us a patch if something is not balanced. In other words, the fix comes quick, with no hitches.

The progress is coming along quite well, and the community, although hostile sometimes, is growing as well.

8.2/10. Definitely worth trying.

EDIT: August 28th, 2018.

With the release of 1.0 I can't help but be dissapointed. The game plataued in late 2015, and it never recovered. New life was breathed about six months ago, but it decayed fast. It seems as if the devs have given up, and decided to release in 1.0, and move on. I can't fault them for that, the game has been in development for far too long- but it is dissapointing. That being said, it is still a good game, and I wish they cared about it more.

7/10.

This is by far one of the best, if not the best, open world/ sandbox survival game I have ever played. Despite having a few performance issues on maximum settings which should be expected for an early stage game (The lowest drop I have gotten is 38 FPS). The art style fits the lore perfectly, and the suspense is thrilling. This game is one of a kind, and one of the most genuine games I have ever played. Keep up the good work Devs, Im loving it.

This game is one of the most immersive RPG's I have ever played. When I used to play ps3 I had this game, and didn't feel like it was built around the player. But the PC adds that one layer of immersity that I needed to fully enjoy the game. You haven't played Action-RPG until you have played Skyrim.

This Game is a very immersive Role-Playing-Game. I includes key features that Skyrim (V Elder Scrolls) left out. Those features include weapon weathering and a classic experience. I would recommend this to many who have patience and love an entertaining story with a lot of history behind it.
