You know, I really liked "Safecracker."

If you're looking for ultra high production values and the like, you might be a little dissapointed. The graphics are ok but nothing to write home about - especially for a static, hidden object type game - the little voice acting there is isn't the best, and the plot, while interesting enough, is certainly a little sparse. But none of those things are really the point, are they?

You don't play a game subtitled "The Ultimate Puzzle Adventure" unless you like puzzles, right? And while the title's grasp rather exceeds the game's reach, it's a very good puzzle adventure no matter what way you cut it. There are wide variety of safes to crack and puzzles to solve, some of which are rather straightfoward, some of which are a bit more obscure, and some of which you can't solve without other information from elsewhere in the game. There was only one puzzle I legitmately couldn't have deciphered without outside help; the rest may prove tough, but on the whole aren't frustrating or unfair. And despite miminal atmosphere, I somehow found myself sucked in to the interior world of two characters who get lost in safes and puzzle solving. Time spent wondering about each puzzle's solution became time in which I came to appreciate the skill and cleverness involved with not only solving such riddles, but making them as well.

All told, there's a lot less "Adventure" than "puzzle" in this game, but it's a puzzle worth having a go at, for sure.
