Early Access Review
Definitely recommend. By far, one of the best survival/sandbox games I have played. I love the talent tree and the character progression; neither being too easy nor too grindy.
Playing with friends is better than solo play in my humble opinion, but this game is very playable solo, too. I like how I can take my character from a private game and join someone else's server to play with them. In co-op mode, quests are shared, so you can have 4 people doing 4x different quests simultaneously and complete the game 4x faster, etc, if thats your jam. But also enemies are easier to beat when you fight them 2v4 instead of 1v4, for obvious reasons, so doing quests together has significant advantages, too. And then when my friends are offline, I can take my avatar back to my private world so I dont get too far ahead of them on the co-op server, but can continue to grow.
I am only level 13, but it seems like a complete game so far. Not sure why it's still in early access, but that may have something to do with some end game content that I havent reached yet?

pretty solid little 4x game. most rounds take between 30-60 minutes, but I mostly only play on normal and hard modes. Extreme just feels like micro-hell, but thats just me. the different clans feel very different, but most have a few similarities where you can easily switch with a minor learning curve. its fun.

absolutely great game, despite the fact that they never polished it before releasing it. The unofficial patch does help quite a bit. google it, its worth it. not sure how VTMB2 will turn out, but I'm willing to give it a shot if it in any way builds on the success from the original VTMB. Ignore my hours as of this review, I played many years ago before I ever downloaded Steam, and had to come back for it.

great game. highly recommend. Almost 300 hours played through several playthroughs and zero regrets for the time spent.

First highlight I appreciate about Avorion over typical sandbox games is: the "final" boss at the center of the universe and how resources, tech, options, and difficulty increase the closer you get to the center, giving you a clear objective, more or less, from the beginning. You can continue playing after finishing the "final boss" either with friends on a private server, public server, or solo play and there is legitimate post/endgame content and DLC for people who still want to continue their exploration.

Second highlight I appreciate about Avorion is the option to hire captains and automate weak AI tasks like mine, explore, defend, attack. Many sandbox/builder type games become an overwhelming grind at some point, but with automated mining/defense, you can focus on the tasks you enjoy and let the computer handle the grind for you.

played the playstation version a few years ago. enjoyed it immensely. saw it on steam, decided to give it another go, its good enough for multiple play throughs even if there are only a handful of main endings (spoilers, either morrigan gets pregnant or she doesnt, alistair becomes king, or he doesnt, etc). the story, game play, and character progression are all on point.

more chill than Destiny or Overwatch. You can leroy jenkins if you want, but I prefer the slow tactical approach. either way works well if you do it right
