I would describe this as "the most arcade-like mil-sim" ever. Has more than anough goofiness that seems intended (physics, ragdolling, dropping strats when you punch your buddies, etc) but also some incredibly in-depth armor and armor penetration mechanics. By this point, most weapons feel like they're in a great spot. The stuff that was originally overpowered is now still great at some things, but not a masterkey for everything. Early game gear and stratagems are powerful and fun, even in late game. Learning to use the various tools available to us is what makes this game fun. There are so many different ways to build your helldiver and play into a team role. For the most part, even the community ingame is pretty wonderful to play with, despite the many reddit posts to the contrary. The minor gripes people seem to have are either in the process of being fixed, or more than likely, they're trying to force a type of play or forcing a tool for the wrong job. With the Sony issue that came up, the devs recommended players utilize their reviews to make Sony listen. And while some aspects that Sony messed up are still in play, the biggest one seems to have been removed. So even if this game isn't exactly what you want right now, chances are that you probably have friends who would enjoy having you drop in with them. If you ever think to yourself that you might have fun with this game, I guarantee your intuition is correct.

100% recommend this game, hands down.

TLDR: Game fails to load into the first mission, and none of the fixes I've found online seem to work. Currently requesting refund.

I have followed various forum threads both in the Steam Community and the Activision forums looking for fixes. This appears to be a known occurrence since the game's release, and yet Activision has limited, if any, response to players requesting support. The game goes into the loading screen prior to the first mission but following the opening cutscene, but sits at the last 2% (approx.) for several minutes before inexplicably closing the entire game without a report of any kind. Safe Mode, Run as Admin, adding my entire Steam folder to my antivirus exceptions list, among other attempted fixes all have no effect. I never expect anything breathtaking out of the CoD games anymore, but I've had a few friends who recommend the single player campaign to me, and that's about all I ever enjoy from these games. If the game is incapable of running, though, with none of the forums I've checked having actual responses from the company, then I just don't recommend supporting this product.

This is one of those gorgeous and magical gaming experiences that's worth taking the time to explore. It was beautiful in the art and animation, the music, and especially in the writing. The characters have their own defining characteristics, but aren't locked into stereotrypical representations of those things. They feel fully fleshed out, and there's lots for you to learn about them during your interactions. I've played it once, and I need to play it again to see how things pan out with different characters.

If I had stopped around my 3 hour mark, I would have given this game a 6/10.

Now having almost 10 on record, I consider this game to be an 8.5/10. It's not perfect, and there's one or two simple mechanics that this game should've had from the start, and yet it's still lacking. It's easy to lose track of your companions, and while they'll eventually find you again, it's hard to estimate when that'll be. My only other complaint is how confusing the "Junk" mechanic can be, and how difficult it is to find that last piece of aluminum.

That being said, I still consider this game to be amazing. I'd compare it to the differences between Far Cry 2 and 3/4. Far Cry 3/4 had a massively in-depth HUD, and everything as easy to find. In Far Cry 2, nothing was spoon fed to you. You had to learn everything on your own time.

Fallout 4 is like that. 4-5 hours into the game, and I'm no longer wondering where the heck the next mission objective is, instead I'm just exploring and trying to craft better mods for my gear, and it pays off, as enemies get tough and can easily overwhelm you with a single wrong step.

All in all, I'd say that this game is going to absorb plenty of hours on a single play through, meaning it's both a long, grindy beginning, but definitely worth buying.

I managed to purchase while on sale, but I feel that I should've gotten into this game earlier.

TLDR: Seems to be a very long game, very complex and lots to learn, but it pays off to stick with it. 8.5/10, I highly recommend this game.

So... The sheer number of mods for this game that actually work, and are fun is way too high. There is so much you can do with this game, and the amount of content they give you with it is really great. Despite being somewhat repetitive in the gameplay aspects, and still not up to par with today's graphic standards, this game continues to provide lots and lots of fun, new experiences with friends.

I highly recommend this game, 10/10 would ba... Would buy this game.
