Batman Origins Blackgate was an experience equal to getting your skin flayed, and salt poured in the wounds. A failure of epic proportions, with the only saving grace being the cool comic cutscenes, and the fact that its a pretty short game.
I didn't mind the whole 2D metroidvania style all that much, nor did i find the map extremely confusing (its still ♥♥♥♥ though) apart from some moments. My personal gripe was with the awful and i mean AWFUL combat system and controls in general. Batman does whatever the ♥♥♥♥ he wants half the time, hitting the wrong enemy or hitting the air like a delusional schizophrenic. You cant use gadgets, or even special moves except from the classic stun and beatdown, resulting in an extremely boring and most of the time frustrating experience.
The boss "battles" are a complete joke and something id expect in an PS1 kids game. Props to the Joker fight though, for making me laugh out loud to how stupid it is. Not to mention a certain fight where you beat a boss using electricity when in universe he is EMPOWERED BY IT.
The ending also changes a bit by giving you an extra side quest, depending on which major boss you fight last. While its an interesting idea, they just copy paste 5 stuff for you to do and slightly change the way you go about them.
100% not recommended even if you get it for free.
