And I'm pretty sure there is like a train or something that basically let's you travel between the two wastelands. It's a pain to set up, not too bad if you are familiar with installing mods manually. There is an installer for it, but some of the mods you would want you have to do manually. I think you can still use FOMM for the new vegas stuff anything fallout 3 mods need to be converted to work with it, but there are a bunch that are already converted. I spent about two days just going through deciding if I wanted to try and go through with it. I'm still on Fallout 3, but so far I'm glad I went through the process.

Tale of Two Wastelands is kina like a giant mod that basically runs fallout 3 through new vegas' engine. You have to hae fallout 3, new vegas and all the dlc, but you then can play through fallout 3 and at the end of the game you travel to the mojave and start new vegas. The have mods to work with it, and there are some to address issues so you are not too overpowered or hit max level by the time you get to new vegas.

I think it's even better if you have Fallout 3 and can do Tale of Two Wastelands.
