This game flew under my radar. Found out about when I saw it on upcoming games with 6 hours left before release. Decided to take a chance on it and was happy I did so. Went in to it with low expectations and was pleasantly surprised at how well-polished it is. If you are a fan of Rogue-like games then chances are you will enjoy this one.

Great artwork across the board (I really love the designs). The overall aesthetics are very nice imo.
Great background music (One of the few games where I actually listen to the soundtrack still instead of my mp3 collection).

Great character customization (the game lets you equip up to TEN RINGS! Seriously, why don't more games do that lol).
Nice sense of progression. I can feel myself getting stronger with each lvl up, each new talent, etc. Its a very gratifying experience compared to other games where you feel like your grinding for scraps.

Great UI (Everything is nice and clean, easy to read and even after several hours straight never becomes an eyesore).
Dev is very active and vocal in Discord. Friendly and open to new ideas and suggestions but currently focusing on bug fixes atm.

I've only just scratched the surface so far (currently lvl 12, and I expect to die at any time.. heh) but I can see this game eating up many hours of my time. I don't regret my purchase. If you are on the fence, check out some Streamers showcasing the game and decide for yourself.

I have yet to play the first game so I was coming into this title with zero expectations and no knowledge of the backstory before it. That being said, it did not take long for me to get hooked. Both the story and gameplay borrows elements from many familiar games and movies and merges them nicely. In terms of movies (or TV), think Clive Barker's "Hellraiser", H.P. Lovecraft's "Cthulhu Mythos", John Carpenter's "The Thing" creature design, and even a little "Stranger Things" tossed in for good measure (Shadowy black ops experimenting on children born with unique gifts, etc).

In terms of gameplay, think Biohazard (aka Resident Evil) which immediately comes to mind. There is crafting for ammor and upgrading weapons as well as personal skill upgrades you can unlock (extra HP, faster stam recovery, extra melee dmg, etc etc). The game's open world setting is somewhat misleading in that you play through chapters and within those chapters you are free to roam and do as you like (explore, scavenge, stealth kill enemies for more upgrade currency, etc) but make no mistake there are limits to where you can go and what you can do.

Nevertheless, all of these various elements merge together to make for an addicting and harrowing experience. I am only a few hours in but I have already had a few "WTF" moments (that's a good thing lol). Apparently there is also an NG+ (new game plus) mode for increased replayability. If you are a fan of horror, sci-fi, and stealthy action sandbox gameplay then I would highly recommend it.

Premise: The planet Magalan was once a thriving world with advanced technology until one day an enormous meteorite struck the planet killing off most of the populace. A strange exotic substance called ELEX seeped from the meteorite and infected the planet along with mutating most of the local fauna into ravenous creatures. Humanity has slowly been fighting back from the brink of extinction ever since. Fast forward several hundred years. This is where your story starts...

I am really digging this game so far. On the surface it may not seem like much but the deeper you go the more you get drawn in to it. A lot of people have complained about the difficulty of the game, especially in the early stages. It is true that for the first few hours you can expect to die a lot lol. The game does not hold your hand so plan accordingly and save often. Some creatures or enemies can 1-shot you and you really need a few lvls under your belt before you can start making any kind of progress (gaining a companion helps enormously).

The open world feels unique and quite pretty to look at. Long-decreipt buildings overrun with alien roots or the occasional burned out car litter the landscape reminding you of the civilization that was wiped out. Stray too far though off the beaten path and you may encounter enemies much stronger than yourself so be prepared to do your best Usain Bolt impersonation. 8-)

Worth mentioning: Quest givers must be sought out (no giant glowing exclamation marks here lol) and there is usually more than one way to finish a quest which may have lasting ramifications. This is a game about exploration and consequences. Fast travel exists (to an extent) but you are doing yourself a disservice if you are the type of player who is always looking for the shortest path from A to B. There is a ton of lore to be found, discovered, stumbled upon (not to mention loot) and after some time you will be able to more fully appreciate the premise, the denizens of the world, and the competing factions.

If you were to take a dash of S.T.A.L.K.E.R, mix a splash of Fallout New Vegas, and add a squeeze of WItcher you might get a radiated cocktail like ELEX. It's not perfect but it sure ain't bad either. I have been pleasantly surprised by this game and will continue to play it. The game devs have estimated 100+ hours if you take your time (40ish if you rush) to complete the game and I for one intend to take my time. If you think this sort of game may appeal to you, I highly recommend it.

Wow... what a bizarre game (and I mean that in a good way). First impressions go a long way and so far I like what I see. It's like a Tim Burton movie come to life. Vibrant colors, unique NPCs, nice ambient bgm, the whole thing evokes an Alice in Wonderland, Willy Wonka, Nightmare Before Christmas, Beetlejuice, etc. vibe. Definitely impressed with the art design and overall aesthetics. Will update more as I progress.

Update: Ranalong city, wow. Never seen such a unique backdrop before. Teeming with quirky aliens bustling to and fro, it reminded me of Luc Besson's Fifth Element. There is definite attention to detail.

Combat consists of skirmish type encounters where you square off against multiple waves of enemies. Your basic attacks for the most part seem to be generally weaker than the monster's default attacks but you make up for this with a greater health pool and the ability to use skills. Boss fights are fun and somewhat challenging requiring you to manage your cooldowns and healing items. All in all combat seems rather well thought out balance-wise.

I don't normally play these types of games but this one caught my eye. I bought it on a whim and can honestly say I don't regret the purchase. I'm only about 3 hours in so far on my first playthrough but the game has turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Some things worth mentioning:

Nice overall aesthetic. The UI, text boxes, menus, etc all have nice clean lines. For a game that requires a lot of text reading, it never becomes an eyesore.

Very nice character design. I personally like the more realistic approach they took as opposed to some of the outrageous over the top visual designs of other games.

The sim restaurant has some depth to it (more than I expected). Ranging from a variety of ingredients to unlock, to increasing your seating capacity, adding aditional menu options, advertising to attract different kinds of customers, etc all while balancing cost-performance to make a profit at the end of the week. The weekly goals make it somewhat challenging and this is what sets the game apart from other visual novels in that there is more here than simply clicking "next" from start to finish.

Nice dialogue. The story is well-written and never comes off as goofy or immature (thus far at least). Nekopara this is NOT. The protagonist is completely relatable to (a credit to the writers).

Overall, a solid effort from this developer and one I would recommend.

You had me at the start once I heard Stan Bush!

Randomized loot system with TONS of upgrades for your armor, powers, weapons, ammo, etc. that cover all manner of variables: increased dmg, elemental dmg, crit dmg boost, crit chance, loot drop chance, DoT, dmg radius, etc etc. Anyone familiar with Diablo-style/Borderlands loot will feel right at home here. A min/maxer's dream imo if you are into tweaking/pimping out your gear to suit your personal tastes.

Fantastic graphics with lots of gore! Stylized combat that lets you move around rather fluidly. Swapping guns for blades and vice versa mid-combat with some powers thrown in for good measure isn't a chore at all. Overall the combat is fast and furious and very gratifying.

Special mention goes to the actual in-game models of both the weapons and monsters. They really did a great job creating some truly unique visuals. Overall, great game. Do yourself a favor and pick it up. 8-)

This game is REDONKULOUS. I knew I had gotten my money's worth when I strapped on twin shoulder mounted homing missile launchers and proceeded to blow sh*t up from afar. Buildings came tumbling down, bug carcasses everywhere, a sea of red and green boxes in the aftermath.. It was Apocalyptic. I love this game.

What a pleasant surprise this game turned out to be. If you like old school dungeon crawlers, random loot, and min/maxing your party then I highly suggest trying it out. Sure, in its current state it needs a bit more polish and a few bugs still exist.. but the foundation is there imo. A good solid game atm it could in time turn into something great. Give it a shot and see for yourself if it appeals to you. You might be surprised like I was at how much fun it is.
