This game's pretty much everything a remake should be. It looks how your younger brain imagined it, but obviously it's way more polished and cleaned up. They also implemented some quality of life changes that are huge, imo, such as the new Cinema where you can replay projector levels and the ability to SKIP the two-way projector levels on subsequent visits for only 10 E-tickets, which is such a nothing amount it might as well be free. That's not even getting into the sprint, slam, and dash abilities as well.

Fantastic game, highly recommend regardless of whether or not you've played the original

Early Access Review
I'm downright shocked that this game is considered Early Access during my moment to moment gameplay. There are some areas where that Early Access title does show through, but it's nothing that's make or break right now.

The voxel building is my favorite part so far, and the undo button is a godsend for it. I also love that if you can get your hands on the blocks, you can actually repair structures you find in the world and make them livable--this is something that my friends and I have taken to doing in Harvest Homestead, and we've made it our main base.

That isn't to say the exploration and combat are slouches either. The map is massive, and the Enshrouded mechanic makes venturing into certain areas still quite a bit of a threat if you get too cocky. From what I've seen, enemies are pretty fair and designed to keep players on their toes, with a general rule of thumb being to keep a shield and a one handed melee weapon around at all times, even if you're a ranger or caster.

The limitation of the flame altars being where you have to build is certainly interesting, but I also completely understand since building anywhere would completely break intended progression through specific quests and set pieces. It's a good compromise, and upgrading your world's Flame Level lets you build more, unlike how some reviews would have you believe.

My biggest complaints about the Early Access are a couple annoying bugs (some of which have solutions in the Discord server), the inventory management, and the character creation. It's impossible to grab specific numbers of an item from your inventory or a chest, and you can only grab it in either half the stack's size, or all at once, which is bizarre when you can gift other players singular items in multiplayer.

The character creation is painfully bare bones. I hate to compare it to ARK or Palworld, but in games of relatively similar veins as this, the lack of character customization is just a bit of a pain point. Give us the ability to make wacky build types or skin/eye colors with more hairstyles.

Overall, Enshrouded is a fantastic game. Could use some QoL spit and polish, but what's here in Early Access honestly puts some retail price and release games to shame, honestly.
